Hello all,
I'm usually to be found in the fares section, so venturing into this section is a first!
I'm travelling from Southall to Exmouth on Wednesday 8th August, and got a great fare of £27.70 (1st Advance) on the 1118 from Paddington to Newquay. When I reserved with GWR, the advisor said that this was a counted place, and not a reserved seat. This struck me as very odd, and looking up the train's booked schedule, it all looks most unusual, with 15 minutes waiting at Reading (pick-up only) and 25 mins of pathing and recovery time between Reading and Exeter. BRTimes shows it as calling at platform 4 at EXD, which would be expected, but realtimetrains has it calling at platform 5 instead:

BRTimes shows it as an HST, but if that's the case, why the counted place and not a booked seat? Can anyone shed any light as to what rolling stock is booked?
