I'm sure it's 8 as it cannot call at either Stone or Kidsgrove with 8 cars, the 1646 doesnt stop at either, it runs Stafford - Stoke - Crewe only.

..and it’s still rammed full. I got the choice of this or the Holyhead Voyager 30 Minutes behind it the other day, so I waited and sat in the declassified voyager first class :D

The 16:46 was extended to an 8 car a few years back. Before that it was number 1 in the UK overcrowded trains league.
That 15:46 being the last super off peak for several hours is an awful awful train. Usually full and standing to at least Lichfeld. I always advise to avoid that one if at all possible.

That 16:46 should be made a 12 car as far as Rugby, front eight carriages towards Trent Valley, Rear four to Birmingham New Street.

Best place to spilt it be Northampton. That’s adding extra journey times.

Going via Northampton would add extra journey time. The 16:46 and 17:46 services have a six minute dwell at Rugby to allow 16:57 and 17::57 VT services ex Euston to pass there.

I don’t think Rugby be a best place to spilt sewing the traffic in the evening. That’s why I thought Northampton be the best. Quieter?

The 1646 and 1746 don't go via Northampton. They go fast line from Milton Keynes to Rugby via Weedon.

There are a couple of really busy LM trains to Crewe. This is one that was improved slightly by making it 8 cars. Slightly.

It runs fast from MK to Rugby. It cant split at Northampton as it doesn't go there!

It was planned to extend most TV services to 8 coaches from December, but I assume this has now been canned due to the delay of the new timetable for December.

From what we've seen apparently it wasn't even planned for December either. Presumably until the 350/4 arrive

I think the 18:46 direct via the Weedon was planned for December as the 18:46 FO Virgin relief disappears. A 20:46 departure from Euston, I believe, was also planned.

2046 to Crewe runs today as well. Monday to Fridays. Via Weedon. Non stop between after departing Rugeley. From rugely to stoke non stop. Stoke to Crewe. Via Aston by stone.

It's a 21:46 Euston to Crewe which was planned for December
