Currently, these two stations get a half hourly service, starting/terminating at Stourbridge Junction.

Would it be worth, should Brierley Hill/SVR originators be put onto the books, having it so 1 SVR, 1 Worcester and one Brierley Hill start/finish running on a 20 minute frequency (so effectively the stations get a 3rd train per hour.

In addition, should the proposed extra 2 Rowley to Birmingham services start, the Langley Green calls move to that, leaving the Stourbridge to Birmingham services to run in front of them at Rowley. (I read this on one of the documents on NR's site ages ago, can't remember which one)

---

Pattern of trains I am suggesting

1 Brierley Hill to moor street + onwards semi fast
1 Severn Valley To Moor Street + onwards with Lye and Old Hill
((Rowley - moor street + onwards with Langley))
1 Worcester to Moor Street + onwards semi fast
1 Brierley Hill to moor street + onwards with Lye and Old Hill
1 Severn Valley To Moor Street + onwards semi fast
((Rowley - moor street + onwards with Langley))
1 Worcester to Moor Street + onwards with Lye and Old Hill

Or just add the Brieley Hill service as yet another service. Making 8Tph the Smethwick to Birmingham segment
I think you mean 8tph from SBJ to BSW but it would not work as SBJ could not cope with four turnbacks per hour with out screwing up the rest of the service.

1) I will be very surprised if the SVR thing happens.
2) Putting extra stops into the longer distance services will upset a lot of people.
3) The Rowley thing would require a facing crossover north of the M5 bridge and a bay platform. Not in my lifetime.

I doubt it too. At least they've got the turnback sidings at Kidderminster.

Pre the 6tph, didn't some Worcester/Kidderminster services stop on some journeys at Old Hill and Lye? If so, it would only be reinstating what Central Trains had cut.

No, I meant adding 2 more trains per hour to the existing 6 trains per hour, making 8 trains per hour between Smethwick Galton Bridge and Birmingham Snow Hill
There is no turnback at Galton Bridge and I do not see how it would be part of a Brierley Hill service.

Hasn't Rowley got the point work from the Stourbridge platform to enable trains that have terminated there to head back to Birmingham when ever Old Hill tunnel through to Stourbridge is up the spout?

Slot the terminator to just after a Stourbridge service has departed so it arrives 2-3 minutes afterwards, quick turnaround (say 5 minutes max), back out and then 2-3 minutes after let the next Stourbridge bound into the station block.

EDIT: just checked on Google Earth and it's at the Birmingham end of the platform just after the canopies end. Ideal for turning 2-4 car units I think....

I'm not saying that it's starting at Galton Bridge, just the stations between there and Snow Hill. What I mean is that I want it to have Brieley Hill to Whitlocks End/Dorridge/Stratford-upon-Avon as an addition to the current level of service.

You are on 4 minutes headways north of Snow Hill, and the turnarounds will be whatever has veen agreed between WMT, and their traincrew / unions, though it probably isn't far off 5 minutes. Unless you wedge in the fasts literally up each other's rear I don't see how 8tph with two spinning on a through running line could reasonably be done.

The Old Hill et al. calls were shifted from the Kiddy to Stourbridge services a couple of years ago I believe.

Yes, there is a turnback at Rowley Regis that is regularly used when the service is disrupted. But it hasn't got a running signal, just a PLS, so trains run empty to Langley Green to restart the service from there.

I don't see any merit in scheduled terminators at Rowley Regis; the two principal destinations are Stourbridge and Kidderminster. Trying to run 8 tph through the long signalling sections Jewellery Quarter to Moor Street is just asking for trouble. 6 tph is probably the practical maximum as queues of trains approaching Snow Hill are already quite common. What we need is not more trains but the same number of trains running in 5/6 car formations. Hopefully the 196s will provide this.
