How long before get into new position in Scotrail

I have been offered a post as a Driver with Scotrail. They have asked for me to be realeased from my current position but my manager has declined, is there any time scale where you have to be released?

Your current employment contract should state minimum notice to serve before you can leave.

Yes currently a SGB with Scotrail

Tell your manager to sort it out with the driver manager/training school . We all work for the same company for goodness sake. Normally people are stuck waiting for courses for their new position, yours sounds unusual.

My understanding is your current manager has the authority to say when you'll be released, however long that is, but after 13 weeks (iirc) you'll start to be paid for your new grade regardless of still being in your current position. Having been awarded the job you're eligible for ASLEF membership, you should do that now - and the LLC will guide you with your situation.

We are short staffed as one of our relief is on maternity from Saturday. They have known for about 6 months she was going on maternity but only advertised her job 2 weeks ago
