Was surely at quite some speed, if the driver of the bus in front was injured?!

Not necessarily! Only two people needed hospital treatment and its isn't specified whether they were the two drivers, two passengers or any combination. If I were to join you in speculation, I would guess the serious injuries were to the driver of the rear bus, but given that it is almost certain to involve a Hyde Road corridor bus running into the back of a 192 just before the height of the morning rush hour, there may well have been in excess of 100 passengers involved, with many stood up, either getting ready to alight at the stop or blocking the aisle between the platform and the stair way. This is a common problem on Hyde Road services, even when the odd few seats are available; motivated by a combination of people (especially young people) wanting to be the ones blocking egress rather than being blocked, and the unoccupied likely to be the moulded plastic "bum perches" over the wheel arches and at the rear. In such circumstances, minor injuries would easily result from the slightest of jolts.

D&G Bus are to operate a 270 Altrincham to East Didsbury service under contract to TfGM - their second recent TfGM contract win, following the award of the 288 contract.

The airport have contracted a 2 week trial of a shuttle service from the station to the viewing park starting today, ending on 15th April. It is operated by Springfield Bus & Coach and departs from the Airport Bus station (Stand L) every hour from 09.17 hrs to 16.17 hrs and from the viewing park every hour from 09.30 hrs to 16.30 hrs. This is in addition to the 288 weekend only extension to the viewing park which starts next Sunday.

Assuming there hasn't been a 5 hour 43 minute plus delay on this reaching the forum, can I ask your source for this? I note the times are very similar to the pre-existing 200, and so will be close to the 288 and poorly timed to connect with 199/330 on Sundays. Have Springfield simply forgotten to de-register the 200 in time or is it an unregistered free service to maintain "goodwill" over the School hols. Either way how is it advertised....if at all?

Just to be pedantic, the 288 is a diversion of a limited number of Airport-Airport City-Altrincham journeys. Further, I understand this diversion is also a trial (probably to mid July).

The 200 registration was cancelled and if it wasn't the service would have to continue to Wilmslow station. Information about a replacement service was posted on a bus forum last week and confirmed on Manchester Airport's Twitter feed yesterday: https://twitter.com/manairport/status/980388814630871040 Someone even photographed the bus operating the service yesterday: https://flic.kr/p/24kM23e

Changes to D&G Bus services from 22nd July:

288 and 270 to be merged in to one route with Airport City and Runway Viewing Park extensions withdrawn.
New separate 737 service running between Airport Station and Runway Viewing Park 7 days a week.

Revised Transpeak timetable to come in to effect from 22nd July which will see the service run between Buxton and Derby only. I wonder if the enhanced Buxton-Stockport-Manchester rail service has resulted in the Manchester part being no longer viable?

End of an era.

But other than free pass holders, who is going to choose a 4 times per day bus service (with a tortuous crawl into Manchester along the A6) over a half hourly rail service? At least the 199 maintains a half hourly local bus service south of Stockport, where the bulk of demand is.

Can I ask where you have got this info from?

It's on VOSA dated yesterday. TP had multiple registrations due to the length of the service and the Manchester to Buxton registration has been cancelled with the other TP registrations and the 199 showing as being revised.

The end column on the TP entry on that list states it will then be running via Burlow. Where exactly is Burlow?

10 minutes South of Buxton.

I'm disappointed the TP Manchester section is being withdrawn, always been a few passengers on it going beyond Buxton, when i've caught the 14.30 from Buxton to Stockport, also better than catching the slower 199.:'(

I remember the days when you could go direct from Stockport to Tideswell that also took the same fast route at the Whaley Bridge roundabout for part of its final journey section.

Problem with TP though only 4 journeys[5 at weekends & in the summer] extend to/from Manchester, & the first Southbound from Manchester is 11.15am on a weekday, not great for a day out.

Also High Peak 199 timetable is changing on the same date, Sunday servicve will no longer serve Peak Dale, but will serve Fairfield Estate instead

When it ran to Manchester two-hourly, they had quite a neat arrangement - there was an 0830ish arrival in Manchester for commuters which then returned (after a break) as a 0925 for daytrippers.

I guess they must've started struggling for commuters to make an 0830 arrival viable, so must've targeted having a post-0930 bus into Manchester for the free pass revenue instead (probably a more stable market across the year as a whole compared to Peak District day trips), which means a first departure back at 1115.

Finches have had their license revoked from the end of the school term for not filing the paperwork to change from Sole Trader to a Partnership and conducting ad hoc maintenance inspection intervals with no paperwork. Investigation was started after the driver killed at Chester zoo when his bus fell on him while changing a tire, in that case the wheels had been inspected 3 days earlier but they hadn't noticed the wheel fault.

Bullocks have cancelled their 147 registration but reportedly Stagecoach Manchester are going to acquire the buses and takeover the route.

Hopefully they'll be be clearer about when it runs.

Bullocks talk about a last bus at 1750 from Piccadilly, but link to a timetable showing a last bus at 2030 whilst TfGM show a last bus at 1820.

Evening journey were deregistered two years ago. I've also heard the stagecoach service will not serve the hospital grounds but will continue beyond Rusholme. This suggests it may be part of a revised MagicBus network. I doubt they will inherit the Gemini s.
