What will be the service frequency from December 2018 in the core?

This TFL document from 2016 states it will be 15tph between Abbey Wood and Paddington from December, which lines up with what is currently shown on RTT for the test services from July.

I imagine they are doing this to provide a frequent service for the central stations. However it will be good to see how full the Whitechapel - Abbey Wood branch gets. If Canary Wharf is already overcrowded on 15tph, it will be interesting to see how it copes when it drops to 12tph next May.

Internal rumblings that Whitechapel station may not be ready for opening in December, with services non-stopping until it’s ready.

On real time trains website, there are services listed on the Elizabeth line/crossrail from July 29th. They are all listed as (unadvertised ordinary passenger) between Abbey Wood Crossrail and Paddington Crossrail.

The timetables on RealTimeTrains shows some terminating services at Whitechapel and other oddities such as an empty from Old Oak to Custom House where it then returns in service to Paddington...

Looks like:
-Some of the initial core only service will actually be resourced from the GE stabling locations (which explains the Chadwell Heath-Whitechapel ECS, presumably ex-Ilford depot)
-The Custom House starters are effectively because the rest of the service needs to be resourced from the west, i.e. Old Oak Common, so the first train or two spins back short at Custom House to provide an earlier first westbound journey.

You're also neglecting to consider that signalling commissioning is still ongoing. The reason that we are starting with Paddington-Abbey Wood is because that route is entirely self-contained.

But it's not *entirely* - the empties will be running through to/from Old Oak and Ilford at the start and end of the day.
