Tell you what, we cant be arsed with the 124's anymore, or the circulars (10/11) at night, and seeing as the 124's have the 1 on the same contract we'll give them back as well, good luck finding a replacement LCC!!
And fares go up Sept 20th with the only multi-trip tickets to rise being the Preston citi and day riders...

Also spotted a very smart looking 18363 on the 6a this evening after its repaint. Looks odd without Stagecoach written on the front and this is what made me look at it closely in the first place. Won't be long before its in its new stuff.
I think 22809 was one of the MANS recently repainted along with 22807. So if there was any damage I'm sure Lancaster wont be to pleased about it.

Anyway I'm sure the Enviro's can only be a good thing as long as they agree with the routes they were purchased for etc. I wonder where the next batch will go hehe.

No idea on holiday at the mo but i know theres 2 out of the ex-carlisle submarines that need doing are 22809 and 22814. Things always happen when i`m off work.:roll:

Yeah all the MANS need doing apart from 22807. Some need new seats, CCTV, repaint but as with everything its an ongoing project as I'm sure you know lol.

Heard today info that confirms a previous post regarding replacement vehicles for Service X4/X5, fleet No's 53336-53339 arriving at Lillyhall from 25th Sept - 23rd Oct, reg No's PX59 CVB/C/D/E.
Also from monday service 300 will start to operate half hourly between Workington and Whitehaven with slight alteration to route around Lillyhall, the service will also no longer be limited stop between Whitehaven and Maryport.
All the office staff seem to be busy making the neccesary arrangements as this was only confirmed on Tuesday.

Fantastic I believe that the first new coach will arrive at LL as you said at the end of Sep for driver familiarisation.

I'm quite suprised with that actually, There's already something like 6 services an hour between Whitehaven and Workington! Although i suppose it's more to benefit the Lilyhall estate.

This makes me wonder then, if the "Connections to Carlisle" livery is intended for the 600...... :???:
after discussions with other people, starting to wonder if information about these enviro's has all got mixed up.
even another forum member at one point said it was 7 buses for 79 / 179, and 2 for 104. after being told they wern't being branded, it turns out 6 were branded for 79 / 179, and 2 for 104.
then it came to mind, Carlisle run the 554, which connects Carlisle (your connections to Carlisle) with the 555 route, of which is low floor! the 554 has, up to now, been operated by anything available, the same as 79, 179 and 104.
i will try to get information on this. if anyone else has any information, then please let us know haha.

Due to heavy traffic in the Milnthorpe area, because of the Westmorland Show. The 555's have been arriving into Kendal upto 20-mins late.
The 1050 departure 755 service to Morecambe, did not arrived into Kendal until 1120, due in at 1038.
18357 & 20305 was working the shuttle service between Kendal and the Showground. At one point there were over 500 people waiting for the Shuttle bus!!!!

Preston buy out will harm passenger interests
The Competition Commission (CC) is considering what action to take after it provisionally concluded that the Stagecoach purchase of Preston will reduce competition and potentially harm the interests of passengers. The CC has been investigating the acquisition of Preston Bus by Stagecoach, following a referral by the OFT. Before the acquisition, Preston Bus provided local bus services in Preston and South Ribble and was of course a former municipal operation.
CC Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Inquiry Group, Dr Peter Davis, said, 'Our provisional view is that the loss of competition caused by this merger could have an adverse impact on passengers in Preston by leading to a worsening in fares and other factors such as service levels. Without the merger, we believe the potential or actual competition each company would have faced from the other would have ensured that they maintained or improved their services in order to attract passengers. We are now considering a range of possible remedies to deal with our concerns.'
The CC's findings note that there was an 'intensification of competition' in the run up to the acquisition, from June 2007 to September 2008, with Stagecoach operating 'heavily loss making routes in direct competition with Preston Bus,'which then found itself in financial difficulties. While this was a period of intense competition, in light of these significant losses the CC has considered that that period is not an informative benchmark to represent what would have happened without the merger.
Remedy options being considered include a requirement to sell all or part of either business, measures to encourage new entry by other operators, as well as controls on fares and requirements to maintain service levels. At the same time, the CC will also consider any customer benefits arising from the merger. The final report will be published in November.
Stagecoach reaction
A spokesperson for Stagecoach said, 'We do not agree with the Competition Commission's provisional findings. We have a long tradition of public service within Preston and Lancashire that we have continued with our acquisition of Preston Bus. Under our ownership, we have given local people access to a more integrated, sustainable, comprehensive, high-quality and affordable bus network. We saved the jobs of Preston Bus employees from an uncertain future and agreed to secure their pensions when no one else would make that commitment.
Passengers have responded very positively to our investment in local services and more people have been attracted to bus travel. We hope the Commission will use the consultation period to consider these factors and reflect our significant improvements for passengers in its final decision.'
