Don’t worry Pop cards on on our product list

I know, we used them (Standard England bus passes) to hold week Metro tickets. I only wish I'd had my SWT Smart card at the time too. Interestingly the ticket inspector had pretty much the same attitude to checking there was a ticket on there

I think that you can load a weekly MetroSaver on to Stagecoach Smart card (at least one acquired via the Stagecoach bus website) as I'm think I did that once.

Nexus has a Pop card reader app for Android devices. Quite handy for checking your PAYG balance. When I've had my ticket checked by Metro staff, I'm fairly certain they used the same app.

The POP card app doesn't like my SWT card. However I found an app called Rambus Smart Ticket Checker that does work and gives me very detailed information (and very quickly too. SWR should have the ticket inspectors use this instead!). One thing that is interesting is that apparently I have something called a "Transient Ticket" on my card, for Havant station. Maybe that is why the barriers work at Havant but nowhere else and is actually nothing to do with the season ticket.

Okay, this afternoon, my card operated the barrier at Portsmouth & Southsea, which was surprising to say the least. Checking my card, the Transient Ticket for Havant is now a Transient Ticket for "Unknown Station 5537", which Google confirms is Portsmouth & Southsea. So, we've gone from only working at Havant to only working at Portsmouth. I... guess it's progress? At the very least, I use Portsmouth's barriers a lot more than Havant's.
