Services affected 8/30/30A/31/31A/301 also service 6 (3D Travel)

Ah, thanks very much. I had a feeling it would be that, Couldn't really see all the services going through mirehouse or up the really steep road (forgotten the name) near Corkickle Esso Garage.

When will OFT and CC stop making life hard for Stagecoach ?

And when will they start picking on Arriva and First ?

As I posted on another forum, Arriva and First will be asked to respond to this. As they originally said "good for Stagecoach, good luck" I can see the CC backing down...

Oh dear well that is a blow for SC but to be fair I still think the takeover will go ahead. I think I'm right in saying (and correct me if I'm wrong) that other bus companies such as Arriva and First have no interest in taking over PB and therefore SC really is the sensible option.

Also the amount of investment that SC put into there fleets is large and so it will be a huge benefit to local passengers. New modern vehicles and a company with a modern way of operating. In fact they have already seen an improvement with the removal of cash vaults.

Stagecoach have invested a lot of time and money in improving the network of services in the Preston area following the take-over. Now on common sections of routes, the buses are more even spaced out, which benefits both the passengers and the drivers.

Just to add, It seemed to me, that whoever it was at Stagecoach that authorised the buy-out was doing it to safeguard the jobs at Preston bus and save them from going to the wall, a rather heroic gesture if you want, however, in trying to help others, it seems that Stagecoach will be penalised..

I know we cant go on in life with the 'aww coulda woulda shoulda' but what would have happened if SC had let PB go to the wall, they would have had a monopoly fairly soon anyway, the CC M&Mc OfT etc couldn't have said nowt then

Its decided that one way or another, PBL is devolved from Stagecoach ...

Fishwicks, whilst being bankrolled by a source 'with an interest' takes over PBL ...

A weird co-existence settles over Preston, bit like Bolton in the old days, Ribble did 582's and routes to Bury in competition with GMB, then all of a sudden it was 'you lot leave us to do our bit and you can have Blackburn Rd etc' and the competition suddenly melted away!!...

Like i say, shot in the dark..


As for the Oly's, have not got a clue about cascades at the moment, just some weird vibe about Tridents not 'being liked on schools by the GMPTE' :insert puzzled smiley here:

Well word is (unconfirmed and very questionable lol) is that they will end up at ME replacing out Leylands (excluding 14204).

Stagecoach's less than ethical way in which they ground Preston Bus down means that many people in Preston absolutely detest Stagecoach. Things aren't too bad at the moment, but it's inevitable that if nothing is done, fare hikes and service cuts are imminent.

If Preston Bus is divested, and the new owners can't make money, then what will happen? Fare hikes and service cuts. And I bet the people of Preston wouldn't say a thing if that did happen!

34079 on 51. at driver change time, the "new" driver didnt look happy at all.
33167 and 47024 on Harrington & Seaton. didnt see the 3rd, but think it could have been 33168.
20777 on 31 again!

times on 30 and 31 messed up. 2 buses operated from Workington to Maryport at the same time.
22608 later ran dead from Maryport to Workington to pick up on 31. it had a bit of rear "damage". 2 panels on rear offside were badly faded. looked like they'd been recently replaced and painted badly.

yet again, drivers are still driving buses with incorrect information on displays!!!!! 47024 came into Workington nearing the bus station to run Seaton 47, but it still had "Harrington 46A" on the display!!! it should have been "Workington 46A"!!! there is simply no excuse at all for not changing a Hanover display! it isnt like there is a code to look up! it is just sheer laziness and gets very annoying!!! the driver then changed the displays to "Seaton 47" WHILST DRIVING!!! not at the bus stop just before the bus station like they should! looking up at a display unit and pressing the buttons whilst driving is even worse than using a mobile phone whilst driving!!!

The L--- TDY registered Volvo B10M's I spotted being towed away from LL on the A66 the other day were on their way to Trevor Wigley's scrap yard in Barnsley.

Indeed, this was noted on the latest fleetcard.

Nice to see that Lillyhall is starting to get some space.

At the Trans-Lancs rally today at Heaton Park in Manchester were Stagecoach Manchester's 13995, 16184, 19364, 26128, & 40660, and Stagecoach Wales 52504.

Yes, it's one of only five Optare Spectra's operated by Stagecoach group, 13995/6 came from Bullocks in 2008, the other 3 13997-9 came from Huntington & District also in 2008.
