Why can I only book tickets for next 4 weeks, usually they have tickets available for the next 8 weeks or so.

All due respect Robert, why dont you ask them, I am sure the W/S/Chil
people at Banbury will tell you why, they usually respond within the hour
to e mails. As for me, no idea unless I walk down to the station.
Are WSMR planning any changes from the end of September?
It is possible to buy advance tickets and reserve seats for the first three journeys each way until 20 November but for the last journey in each direction it is not possible to buy an advance or reserve a seat with an anytime ticket beyond the end of this month.
Are they bringing forward the timings on this diagram? Chiltern changed their timetable in May to allow for an 1830 departure from London to Wrexham.

Interesting. However, would this require a Wrexham or Shrewsbury to Marylebone working? eg. ~13.23 departure of Wrexham, arrival ~17.23?

Was that one of the "cancelled" paths?
At present the 0512 from Wrexham is stabled overnight to form the next days 0645 from London. This set could be used for the 1833 train to Wrexham with the 1923 arrival from Shrewsbury being stabled overnight to form the following day's 0645 from London.

There is speculation on other forums about the future of WSMR. An email I received this morning suggests that they will cease on 19/12 with Chiltern taking over some services using 168's.

My personal view on this is that WSMR as a "brand" will be no more, it will be amalgamated with Chiltern and Chiltern will take over the running of the Wrexham paths with 168s. Id expect a morning service and an evening return to remain as a loco hauled "Pullman" type service. The rest of the WSMR stock will revert to use on Chiltern loco services.

But why, then, refurbish three (or is it four) first class restaurant cars to a high standard?
It is always interesting to see how small seeds of truth get out into the ether and become supposed facts and hypothoses!
The issues with the advance bookings currently are due to a possible timetable change in October. It will be possible for us to introduce an 18.33 service during October (in place of the 20.03) subject to the raising of linespeed for our trains between Princes Risborough and Bicester. This is looking encouraging but Network Rail have to complete the work they are doing on the embankments to ensure that these are capable of sustaining the higher speeds in the long term. Until this is complete we cannot be 100% sure that we will be able to run this service.
The change in time of this service is what the majority of current and potential customers have said that they wish to see, as many are concerned that if they miss the 16.33 due to overunning meetings or other problems it is a long wait for the 20.03.
Clearly as a new company that has to get into profit as quickly as possible we need to act as quickly as we can to make any changes that will make our services more attractive and therefore attract more revenue - hence the reason not to wait for the December timetable change.
As soon as we are able to confidently predict which service we will be running the tickets will be released.

Another plus point for this company
Just looked up booking tickets for a few days time and it would seem either that more advance tickets have been released (although capacity is of course limited) OR demand has significantly dropped.
Tues to Sat this coming week has swathes of £10.00 (£6.60 YP) and £14.00 (£9.20) tickets (infact I'd never even seen the £14.00 price category before now). Even £18.00 (£11.85) advance tickets seem to be available when all others are not. This period in advance would usually in my experience have few £11.85 and £16.XX tickets available for a railcard holder.
