I did a random search for London to Newcastle and found Advance fares available. Maybe it's fixed now?

Interesting, I am trying to get tickets from Peterborough to Blackpool North and for the first time in years I can't get my usual £13 outward journey and £17 return, tried Peterborough to Leeds there was no advanced tickets for that journey either, after your coment there is advanced tickets to Leeds but still none to Blackpool, strange

Trainsplit finds it for a random day: 06/06/2018 departing around 12:00

This is not the fastest journey, so most journey planners won't offer it by default.

That's the route I normally take although the train from Leeds usually goes straight through amd stops at Preston, haven't had to change trains there unless on a replacement coach from Blackpool

Thanks, it's usually open we'll before now, anyways aren't East Coast the fare setter
Yes VTEC set the fare, but it is up to each train company to choose when to open up reservations for their services.

There are all sorts of changes going on from the May timetable change, some are temporary. The loss of the through York-Leeds-Preston-Blackpool service comes under the latter. I am not sure when it returns though.

If you don't mind travelling on services via the Calder Valley (the Leeds-Preston services), advances are available for this route on June 28th. Just set the 'via' station to Burnley Manchester Road on National Rail Enquiries and they should come up (advances ranging from £13.20 to £23.00, except the 0852 departure which is £48.00 due to using a VTWC service from Preston to Blackpool North rather than Northern). Unfortunately they're not currently available for July 1st.

Currently, you can get an advance for the 0647 departure from Peterborough for £17.80, or the 0753 for £23.00.
