Just tried to book LSK to PAD outward on 12/06 return 14/06 only to find out that there will be major disruption on those dates around EXD.

Plenty of info on the FGW website: diversionary routes, planned frequency of trains, explanation of work being undertaken, BUT NO TRAIN TIMES! All regular services are shown as running normally.

With less than 6 weeks to go, why no detail? Unless I'm missing the bleedin' obvious, surely this is unacceptable.

And there is also a 3 week blockade between Bristol Parkway/Filton Abbey Wood and Severn Tunnel Jn for 3 weeks in June and no sign of any revised timetable.

Becuase NR have not finalised anything yet. So GWR cannot amend the train plan. simple as that.

It can be fairly certain that South Wales to London will be via GCR. Looks like it will be EXD-PNZ and PAD-TAU with buses between. Can't be sure if there will be any diverts via Honiton although I'd suggest the sleepers will go that way at the very least

If you refer to the Shortage of GWR Traincrew thread, you will see that GWR only received the timetable for today

www.railforums.co.uk/threads/gwr-shortage-of-traincrew-weekend-and-during-week.148987/page-12 - Post #355

June is a long way off yet !!!

Fair enough, but a note to say that revised timetables will follow once timings have been agreed with NR would indicate that FGW are aware of the situation and stop bods like me chasing up info that they don't yet have.

From a traveller's point of view, however, and someone who regularly books well in advance, 6 weeks is like tomorrow!

I'll defend GWR on this one, seeing what's happening today & the very late changes that NR have caused, GWR are dammed if they publish a timetable & need to change it at the last minute and cause changes to plans people have made & dammed if the don't publish a timetable esrly and wait for NR to finalise their plans.

I'm in the 1st group and would have preferred them to have made it clear it wss a provisional timetable

Absolutely agree with you on this - but if they made it clear that they ware waiting for NR they might avoid getting the blame.

They will always be blamed. Average passengers cannot (read will not) make the distinction between GWR and NR

Remember some of us are piggy in the middle with this, until we are told what is going on we cannot do anything with a bid/plan and offer it back regardless of the other issues with offering back at T-12.

Until Network Rail get their act together and start producing reliable engineering plans at the contractual deadlines and sticking to them, everyone from the timetable managers to the front line staff will continue to be Piggy in the Middle. The current situation really has hit rock bottom and will remain there until an intervention is made on the Network Rail side.

They haven't even confirmed the Timetables for 26th - 28th May on the South Wales line!

I think it may well require the intervention of the ORR.

Good luck waiting for that one. A public sector Network Rail is pretty immune, particularly when the real issue is budget for adequate staffing (and staff retention) and the budget is set by the DfT.

All that is confirmed is that trains are been diverted between Bristol Parkway and Reading.
The GWR Website is stating that times are not confirmed. It was only last week that they added any timetables at all for these dates for their network, with the exception of the Westcountry services.
