... so NR would have to impose a restriction to prevent that.

Which indeed, there has been. I can’t remember where on the Cambridge branch, but the Great Ouse bridges south of Huntingdon station needed some kind of modification for the Class 700s.

But it is an improvement on standard, even if it is 2+2. Unlike the 158s already running on Scotrail. I am sure a passenger would be happier in first on a 365 than a 158?

Well, if the legroom is better I would say so. But ScotRail seem to have decided they won't re-introduce First until the 385s enter service.

Better seat as well. On a par with the ones on the 170s in my opinion. If they are declassified passengers will head to them first.

Presumably given they seem to have decided to either have first on all services or none, and as long as 380s are operating some services it'll be none.

Very likely, quite common on the 'Express' 170s.

Makes sense, as it must be difficult to guarantee a particular service will be operated by a unit with First Class.

It was always thus... Even before all this chaos started it wasn't unusual for there to be several suburban or SPT Turbostars on the E&G at any given time!

No, I realise that (indeed I've experienced it several times), I meant that it's even more difficult to guarantee at the moment.

An entirely logical move in my opinion - first on the 380 was never going to be a realistic option, and with an even more mixed fleet anticipated it makes sense to keep things the way they are until the 385s are fully in service. It's less revenue, sure, but, it's also less complaints to deal with.

If it means some people get to enjoy a nicer seat for their ~50m journey, then, that's a happy coincidence as well. :)

The two units will move from Glasgow works to Eastfield today at 12.30 for training to begin. Scotrail livery-ish applied.

Beat me to it, I’ve just read that the Class 365 has gauging approval in place for this weekend and the start of service in July.

It sounds like EMC issues relating to signalling and track circuits have been broadly resolved.

8 car sets now safely in Eastfield depot undergoing cleaning and light maintenance. A Networker in Glasgow is a strange sight indeed!

Ex-class 321s on all the local routes, 73s hauling sleepers through Queen Street Low Level and electric Networkers at Eastfield. If you'd said 20 years ago that it would be like this, no-one would have believed you.

I can feel a trip coming on. I didn't travel on the 365's very often when I lived in the south so I must make the effort to get a few in Scotland.

Apparently a 365 to be in GLQ at 1 o clock (it's on realtime trains!) on tue
It's a shuttle working Glasgow Queen Street and Linlithgow loops so it seems to be running between the peaks throughout the day... Starts with 5Z52 empty stock Eastfield to Queen Street at 09:25. Runs daily for two weeks, as pointed out up thread.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures!

Will that definitely be running? There has been cancelled paths from Glasgow Queen Street to Linlithgow U.P.L. for weeks.

To remove the stripes is unnecessary and would take more time. In railway terms (where everything takes an age to happen) this project has gone very very quickky. Getting 2 units here, cleared, checked and ready for driver training in 2 weeks must be a railway record. But it's good to see solutions to the issues actually happening.

All of the external doors on 365s lead into standard class areas so you can't have external 1st markings on the doors.
