As far as I'm concerned, they're only open when operating in multiple. I've had a /1 operating in multiple with that door unlocked but that's a story for another day.

The cab end door on a 150/2 does not operate from the inside or outside passenger door controls when that ends cab is keyed in. It becomes an emergency exit / crew door only.

Hopefully it is because they always plan to run the /2's in 4 or 6 coach formations so those doors will be usable!

Some of the /2s will become centre cars for hybrid 3 car 150s. I understand it'll be ones with Asbourne seating that will become the hybrid sets.

If the doors are not a contrasting colour, they can't be used for passengers even when operations allow it (rear/centre cabs). I don't see why Northern would do this just to make the units look "nicer".

I don't think 170's are cleared for the harrogate route yet. Not sure what needs doing to make them fit.

According to the March 2018 LNE Sectional Appendix, class 170s are not currently cleared for Leeds - Harrogate - York.

I don't know what needs to be done to make them fit, it may be as simple as they have never been gauged for the line, so a gauging train needs to be run to prove they are in gauge, or they may need slightly more drastic surgery!

Might be the necessary paperwork just hasn't been done. I don't ever recalling hearing about clearance issues with using 170s, unlike 175s and 185s.

The tendency has come to list in the Sectional Appendix just the routes the traction is intended/diagrammed to work over but in practice they can but just needs checking out and can be done in retrospect. A recent example being Class 170s not being authorised to work beyond Bristol Parkway which has resulted in trains having to be turned back there instead of completing their journey to Bristol Temple Meads nothere as has happened on several occasions. It would seem there would no problem in running to Temple Meads and common sense has now prevailed and it is now shown in black and white that they can. When the Class 175s came out and eventually working on ATW they were not listed as being able to work between Cardiff and Cheltenham but ATW wanted the flexibility so they were "cleared" respectively after a gauging check trip.

There's a possession planned in before the TT change in May to fix. I think it's platform clearance.

I think the decals on the /2 would be removed and the crew door being painted white so it blends in with the rest of the unit. Even though the above is CGI I do look forward to seeing some hybrids running about - at least they'll be more seats.

The crew door is used by passengers when working in multiple and I doubt that'll change when they are shoved between a /1.
