Hi all,

I applied for a job role in Cambridge for Network Rail around 1 month ago. Passed the online tests and went to an interview. The interview was Friday the 28th of April.

Now looking at my job application status it says, 'Assessment 2 pending' .

Could anyone explain to me what is going to happen next?

Thanks Kindly,

JR

Level Crossing Keeper. I have seen you mention it in the forum actually! :)

Hi James,

I interviewed for it a fortnight ago and my status has remained at 'assessment 2 scheduled' since before the interview. I believe there are 6 positions so fingers crossed we are two of the lucky ones! Fingers crossed for us!
Did they tell you a start date? 6th May was mentioned as a potential but perhaps unlikely date - given the interviews were still going on up until the weekend I'd be surprised if 6th is still the plan?

Assessment 2 is the interview itself, so I guess the next stage will be for it to receive the yay or nay. I guess how soon this will be depends on how quickly they need the role filled, but I'd hope we hear something this week.

Hi Choo,

Yeah I think mine has aswell, I had problems with the website though. Yeah 6 positions, fingers crossed! Most laidback interview I have had in my life!

I was told sometime in June would be the starting date. They also said I would hear from the Hiring Manager ASAP, But NR recruitment team don't seem the quickest!

Also do you know if it is a 48 hour week? As the interviewer couldn't answer that question for me. (4 days on 4 days off?)

Hi James,

I'll be honest, I'm completely in the dark as to the hours and pattern. As I understand thing, it is a brand new position that has been created to alleviate some of the pressure on the signallers so it may be that they've not quite ironed out all the finer details yet. June sounds more realistic than this upcoming weekend so that's good. Hopefully we'll hear something soon!

Same, I'll let you know if/when I hear something. It's the waiting and second guessing things that is the hard part - I interviewed for a role earlier in the year and I didn't find out that I was unsuccessful until some 9 weeks later......It was a loooooooong 9 weeks!

Just received the dreaded 'application unsuccessful' update on the NR Careers portal. Oh well, onwards!
