a lot of the May 18 barrow trains are timed at 158s. Are they getting more stock along with the ScotRail that’s currently based at Barrow

I don't think that necessarily means 158s are booked to operate the service, but I believe Northern are due a handful more ScotRail 158s, yes.

158870 which was transferred from Scotrail to Northern a few weeks ago has been at Barrow ever since for crew training.

This is just a timing load, nothing more.

Stock allocations are not in the open data feeds.

Surely if they are being timed at 90mph they have to be 158s or 185s but they would be 100mph
No.

A 100mph train would normally be able to keep to a 90mph timing loan perfectly fine (there may be exceptions, such as for a heavy 100mph train on track with a lower maximum linespeed) so the train company may not feel any need to differentiate the timing loads.

According to previous posts on this forum, some/all the 158s currently based in Hull are moving to Cumbria, being replaced by 155s.
