16668 on 755 today, LED looking very nice.

Completely different bus to what it was 2 months ago, it was really tatty on the paintwork you could actually see the old stripe livery coming through, i think it was the first volvo oly to have the swoop livery and it hasn`t been repainted since the scheme was first introduced :D

Haha wow that has been a while but looks great now ;)

This posted on another forum:

Forwarded from someone who had this forwarded to them...

Had this posting on the Yahoo "Uk-Bus-Fleetnews" Group. This was posted by Ian Singleton.

Had to make a delivery to Optare at Leeds today and visible in the main works were
Stagecoach Versa's
WA09KWJ
WA09KWK
WA09KWM
WA09KWN
plus one other not yet registered.
There were also two SR solo's unregistered but in a very smart blue livery with deeper blue swirls on the side.

Devon are due a batch of Versa's in August, replacing B10M's on lower capacity routes.

Re: 16668, I know what you mean!
Has 16664 been painted? It was looking rather dodgy after all that washing on open day!

going back to my previous comment:
34048, 34687, 20979, 34684, 42531, 16330, 52409 and 14254 in workshop area.
20909 and an UID Alexander RL with new panel over rear display, new rear panel over side display, and some new side panelling, were in the paintshops.
14209 was at the side of the depot, looking ready for service, with "60" on the route number blinds, "UNIVERSITY" on the top blind, and "LIMITED STOP" on the bottom blind.
34688, and UID dart, and 14265 were at the side of the depot.
20130 was hiding at the back of the depot, as part of the reserve fleet. it has the new style trim and an LED display.
14206 was on something in Carlisle in place of a Citi branded Dart (could have been 61 but not sure).
14207 was on the 38.
14232 was on 554 as usual.
14260 was on 67 in place of a Citi branded Dart.
20107 and 20965 on 75. a citi branded dart and one of T reg vario's later went out on 75.
20966 on 66.
20907 was around somewhere as well (one of ones recently transferred from Manchester).

Right, This seems to be the place for to me to ask, as i can get no sense from the SC site!
How would one go about applying to be a bus driver in west cumbria? i am working a part time job now since i quit selling vauxhalls at dobies in feb, and i want a more permanent challenge to get my teeth into.

ring the number on the side of the driver trainer vehicles, they'll be able to help you. if you can't get anything from that, ring Stagecoach North West and enquire about how to apply.

Yes 2268, was the first at Lancaster to be given the new livery along with a Titan - cant remember which though. At the time Stagecoach didnt have a regular repainting programme and a lot of buses were starting to become tatty with bare metal showing through - it was more noticable on the new livery than on the stripes. Its nice to see a regular repainting programme in action now as it really makes the fleet look much much better and cared for.

Good news folks:

http://www.stagecoachgroup.com/scg/media/press/pr2009/2009-07-29/

Also:

THE potential takeover of National Express has taken a fresh twist as Stagecoach yesterday revealed it was in exclusive talks with the consortium that has made a bid approach for the beleaguered transport group.

The development followed Spain's Cosmen family and the CVC private equity group confirming last Friday that they had made an all-cash offer approach to the company.

Perth-based Stagecoach said its talks were about the "possible acquisition by StagADVERTISEMENT ecoach of certain businesses and assets" of National Express if the consortium bid was successful. But the Scottish firm did not rule out a full counter-bid, saying it was continuing "to consider all other options in relation to National Express".

Meanwhile, the target company said yesterday it was considering the consortium's proposal, which it said was subject to "a significant number of pre-conditions and assumptions" .

These include retention, following a change of control, of the group's profitable East Anglia and c2c rail franchises and the extension of the East Anglia franchise to 2014.

Among other conditions are the Cosmens and CVC receiving bank financing on appropriate terms and satisfactory completion of "extensive due diligence".

National Express, whose interim trading results are out this Thursday, said it would also seek to "clarify the status of Stagecoach's discussions with the consortium and the potential impact on the deliverability of the consortium's proposal".

The Cosmen family already sits on an 18.6 per cent stake in National Express, the holding acquired when they sold a Spanish bus business to the British company some years back.

It was unclear yesterday which National Express assets Stagecoach, which runs South West Trains, is most interested in. Most analysts believe the main attraction is National Express's bus operations in Dundee and the English Midlands, and the long-distance coach operations.

"National Express's long-distance coach operations are the biggest in the UK, from Land's End to John O'Groats. That might mesh very well with Stagecoach's Megabus operation if it could be got past the regulator," one source said.

Andrew Fitchie, an analyst at Collins Stewart, said Stagecoach would be interested in National Express's bus operations in North America and the UK.

"It would have no interest at all in UK rail – it has problems of its own there – or in Spain."

Aberdeen-based FirstGroup put National Express into takeover play with an approach in late June, but walked away after being rejected by National's board.

Industry sources said yesterday FirstGroup was likely to need a full bid on the table, rather than indicative proposals, before being allowed to re-enter the fray against the consortium and Stagecoach. There are currently no talks between it and National Express.

The 2009/2010 order:

  • 100 Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 Scania double-deckers
  • 100 Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 double-deckers
  • 15 Alexander Dennis Enviro 300 single-deckers
  • 100 Alexander Dennis Enviro 300 MAN single-deckers
  • 33 Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 midi-buses
  • 9 Plaxton Profile Volvo inter-urban coaches
  • 7 Plaxton Panther Volvo inter-urban coaches (12.3m)
  • 29 Plaxton Panther Volvo inter-urban coaches (15m)
  • 10 Optare Versa midi-buses
  • 1 Optare Solo mini-bus

I'm dubious about just the one Solo, 2 depots down South have been promised new Solos to replace fire damaged ones.

52628 died in Workington yesterday on X5. it was taken by tow to Lillyhall by Mr Pickthall.

going to the order, Manchester have 5 solos on order, which should be delivered in September on MX59 plates.
they're also supposed to be getting 25 E400's, supposedly on the new MAN DD chassis

I'll tell you where the second solo could come from. Glenrothes route G6 here in Fife has recently been worked by Dennis Darts, probably due to issues of availability with a Solo. If the change to a Dart is permanent, then that makes a Solo surplus......

Lancaster will lose 2 B10Ms off the PVR, however I imagine they will stay at least until the Olympian programme is finished.

Yep, that's palced it for me. I could visualise the unit, but not where it was
Now I know.

What's the current fleet like? Obviously there's the Primo, but what else?

47059 on 50.
47024 on 51.
all 3 marshall darts on Harrington & Seaton.
20757 and 52628 on X5.
20765 and 52626 on X4.
42566 left workington bus station around 0845 this morning, with a board in window saying "Maryport 57".

i had 14256 on 555 to Windermere, and 18358 back to Keswick.
20456 on 505.
20735 was at Windermere Train Station for quite a while, just sitting there.
14252 was also on 555.
14232 on 554.
10728 and 16338 on Seatoller 78. 16338 later ran the "late" summer only 554.
16294, 17013, 17014, 17015 and 17016 all were out on 599. all times on 599 were messed up. one of the tridents only ran as far as Ambleside from Bowness, and had "599 Ambleside 599" on display. i have to say that the tridents ride much nicer on the route than the oly!
times on 555 were dodgey as well. all of them were running late, apart from the one i wanted to get on to go to Keswick from Grasmere! that ran 5 mins early! so missed that, and had to spend an extra 1hr 10 mins in Grasmere with nothing to do, waiting for the last full run, which was late!
