Depot Driver/Trainee Depot Driver job based at Crewe

Hi everyone,

I applied for this job a few weeks ago & wondered if anyone else had applied and heard back? It closed on 02 Feb & was being handled by Shorterm not sure who for. I saw it advertised on the railwaypeople jobs site.

Pretty sure it was DRS. I tried to get a couple of mates to apply for it but they didn’t seem too keen so I left them to it. That closed early feb so it’s gotta be the same one, surely.

I suppose its only been 2 weeks since it closed, fingers crossed I'll at least hear back from them, even if it's a no, although according to Google maps I live 59mins from the depot so dunno if I'd make it through the first sift...

Ah, airplane. Classic.

Good luck with your app, I’m thinking of moving over to freight myself in the future. More my kind of work. Crewe would be ideal.

Well all the Freight companies seem to be recruiting if you're already a train driver? Seems to be more money working for TOCs though? Lol I'm new to this, I just happened to see that job advertised and thought why not, I'm a heavy plant operator but I'm becoming more & more interested in train driving now though.

I was a lorry driver before joining and I’ve worked on heavy plant too. Sounds like you’ve got some experience behind you and that’s what they’re looking for. You might get in first time or it could take years but don’t give up. Well worth it.

My experience is from being a driving Examiner for 10yrs and advanced driver training so not sure if I would be classed as suitable or not.

Hello all, I recently applied for Trainee Depot Driver at one of Greater Anglia's depot's. I was invited for first online assessment but not heard anything back as yet and this was 2 weeks ago. Any info? when can I expect to hear? many thanks. Dean.

There's quite a few women out there driving freight trains, they are allowed in these modern times
From your current job you would possess a lot of the attributes that companies look for, give it a shot!
