16651 has been on 300.
20768, 33169 and 40013 were sitting on annexe around quarter to 7.
20737 came in on Workington 31, and went to back of bus station.
20759 came in on Workington 30 (runs 31 through day, then just shove 30 on display to bring it back to workington) and parked up at the X4 / X5 / National Express stand.

bus station was pretty full earlier. had 30, 31, 48 and 51 all in at same time. then 300 tried getting in! there was a police car at the back of the Moorclose stand as well! not sure what was going on, but a police officer was in there for around 45 mins!

if anyone is interested, turns out Carlisle's 14265 has had a retrim at some point. it is mostly on school work, but sometimes pops up on 554 or 78 if an open top unavailable.

in other news, ex LL 25225 has gained Preston Citi branding, and will run alongside the LWB darts and ALX300's! so its still an odd ball!!! why not send it to Morecambe where its actually needed!

20134 and 20734 on 31. so low on low floors......again! really wouldnt suprise me if it was 34616 cos i've hardly saw it since it came here! it only done less than half a day yesterday!

Not seen anything today of interest except for 14208 heading into Blackpool around 10:00 this morning with the blind slipped down showing 'High School Blackpool'

I think the one above Blackpool is Garstang High School if memory serves me right.....

Told today that 20919,20923,20953 & 20962 are to be allocated to Lillyhall replacing 20734,20737,20752 & 20753, two of these have already been repainted and are at Lillyhall awaiting the seats to be retrimmed before going into service.

theres supposed to be 13 R reg's from Manchester, and an N reg from Merseyside.
quite a few K reg's left though. Carlisle are losing all of theirs, but Lillyhall and Barrow still have a good few!
Lillyhall should be left with 20757, 20759, 20761, 20763, 20764, 20765, 20768, 20777 and 20779 on K??? DAO's. i think 20763 and 20777 will be the only ones left with the old grey stripe seating. 20779 recently had its DP seating retrimmed and it looks very smart!

Barrow would have 20754/5/6/8/60/62/78/80/86 and 87 left in K reg B10ms if K743 DAO was swapped for R918 XVM. Isn't about time though that Barrow actually got some Stagecoach owned low-floor buses larger than Optare Solos?

How many k-reg`s b10s are there left in service

There are currently 9 K-reg'd, an L-reg'd, and 4 M-reg'd B10M's in service at Kendal. So some newer ones, will not go a miss.

Especially as Princess Coaches, are operating 57 & 09 Reg'd buses.

20780 is safe for now. chances are it'll be one of the last to leave, along with the refurbished ones. when it does go, the vinyl will just be put in the bin, as its not the best thing to remove (as Reays have found out with ex Stagecoach 40647, the Honister Rambler bus).

20737's LED will apparently be put into either 20765 or 16329 when it leaves service. suppose we'll just have to wait and see really.

just been reading an article in Bus & Coach Buyer about free concessionary travel. South Lakeland District Council apparently paid £1,679,000 but they only received £1,489,000 from the Government. the rest of the cash has come from council tax payments of local residents.

this is the article:
"According to the local newspaper the Westmorland Gazette, South
Lakeland District Councillor Andy Shine says that local taxpayers in South
Lakeland are being penalised by the free concessionary travel scheme,
because the area is a popular tourist destination and has 5% more older
residents than the national average. In the last year the scheme cost
SLDC £1,679,000 but it only received £1,489,000 from the Government a
shortfall of around £189,000. He claims that the scheme has placed such
an unfair burden on local householders that it swallows up 3% of council
tax income. He is convinced that other Districts in Cumbria are not using
up their allocation and is calling for the scheme to be administered at
County level 'so discrepancies can be ironed out.'"

WORKINGTON BUS STATION IMPROVEMENT ARRANGEMENTS PHASE 1.

"Customers are advised that from Monday 3rd August 2009 improvements to the bus station are commencing, this will require the closing of Stands A & B for a period of approximately two weeks.

Between 07:00 - 19:00 (7am - 7pm) all Stagecoach town services and other operators minibus services will depart from the bus station annexe."

Temporary Departure Arrangements - Phase 1:
30 / 31 towards Whitehaven will depart stand C.
30 / 31 towards Maryport will depart stand E.
300 / 301 towards Carlisle will depart stand F.
300 / 301 towards Whitehaven, X4 / X5, and SL Ltd Contract will all depart stand D.

35 / 36 Cockermouth, and 46 / 46A Harrington will depart Annexe Stand 2.
47 Seaton, 48 Northside and 222 Whitehaven will depart Annexe Stand 3.
50 / 51 Moorclose Circular will depart Annexe Stand 1.

From 19:00 (7pm), evening town services 46B 47 50 & 50B will depart from stand D in the bus station.

Just seen 40028 out on Maryport Circular... The driver looked very releived for me to let him out of the Station Inn Junction on his way back to the town centre... hee looked as though he had been there a while, and i thought as i was at the front of a tail of traffic woming from Workington i would do the "Right Thing!"

cainebj has told me that Manchester's order for this year is 25 E400s and 5 Solos. 15 06 plate E400s will be displaced to Hull, the other 10 double decks and Solos/minibuses have still to be decided.

This seems rather daft to me, surely it would be better to move the remaining Tridents on from Manchester??

the older tridents in Manchester get used on school work, so they'll keep hold of a few of them. i think its 19001 - 19015 to Hull. 10 more are to be decided, then the PX07 solo's from Preston will also be leaving in September.

Re: Stagecoach Manchester, I have read elsewhere that new saloons (either E200 or E300) are soon to enter service at Stockport. This may, of course, only be a rumour.

my contact at Stagecoach Manchester says there is no plans to bring in any single deck buses until 2010. they are expected to be Enviro 300's on MAN 18.240 chassis, replacing some of the ALX300's.

Yes, but they're having rather poor availability recently - they aren't up to the route. As you probably know, at least 3 have been down to Morecambe for new rear axles. Not so long ago a Solo was out on the route as well.

Couple this with the fact that the Kendal - Keswick part of the route doubles to 30min frequency this time of year....

it must be. i was told it was a solo, but all of the solo's have been around. B10M's have been flying around on 30 & 31, so makes sense if it was 22597 that crashed.
the newer buses aren't having much luck at LL! 2 enviro 300's were involved in collisions in feb, 47617 has crashed twice. one of enviro 300's broke down in its first week of service. an 04 reg solo had to be towed back to LL cos of some mechanical failure. darts are often breaking down, as are Volvo Olympians. and of course, can't forget jonckheere's!
isnt often we see the old Leylands break down, or the more looked after B10M's!

22597 was in Carlisle in a Ribble Bus Rally, for a now and then display. Also one will be on loan soon for Carlisle driver training as their enviro 300's will be arriving soon.
