Jeremy Corbyn was seen at London Euston standing quietly with other passengers yesterday by the doors on board a London Midland train to Milton Keynes Central. He had the option of taking a faster and more expensive Virgin Train and could have chosen first class to travel in style but he did not. He opted for the slow and cheap alternative instead, making good use of public money and spending it sparingly and wisely. NOTE: Virgin offer a cheaper fare to Milton Keynes from Euston. This means Jeremy in fact paid more than he could have, unless he had an advance ticket.

He doesn’t get taxied around to places in an armoured limousine convoy, he doesn’t get helicoptered over to campaign events unlike a certain PM we all know.

No, he takes the Goddamn train and stands up like everyone else when there’s no seats available.

I like this man. Be nice if he were the PM instead.

I’m not sure I want to venture into this type of discussion, but it’s certainly worth pointing out that the “armoured limousine convoy” the PM travels in is for a very good reason that really shouldn’t need to be said.

That was Thursday actually. I was filming him at his destination. M1 shut & I heard he was arriving by train, asked if he got a seat & got a very dodgy look!

This thread was never created to discuss the Goverment or security, it is to celebrate the fact that an MP chose to mingle with and stand with other passengers on a train instead of taking private transport

I'm sure lots of MPs, party leaders and shadow cabinet ministers use "normal" public transport.

In reality, if he became PM, he'd be driven around in chaufer driven limousines with conveys of bodyguards etc.

I'm pretty sure Corbyn has security people with him at all times, even on that train. I mean Jo Cox was Labour and she was targeted so the party doesn't really matter.

The Prime Minister getting all-around security in armoured limousines is not a thing of privilege, it is a thing of necessity. As a general leader and representative of the United Kingdom, the Prime Minister would certainly be a very popular target for assassins and attackers. Going around without security isn't really an option. I don't think the person who created the picture with all that text understood this, and I hate to break their spirit, but I am afraid that Jeremy Corbyn is not their Prime Minister even if they like to think he is or want him to be.

As for the picture itself, it's nice to at least see a politician do what common folk do, especially since, not long ago, George Osborne sat in First Class with a Standard ticket and was absolutely shocked at the very prospect of actually having to pay the full price or sit with people in Standard Class. He really did see himself above everyone else at that time, so Jeremy taking the train like everyone does is a bit of a breath of fresh air. Despite that though, I don't think it's a good enough reason to wish for him to be Prime Minister.

I don't think there's any political point to be made here, despite the best efforts of some to do so. This is starting to feel like one of those news articles on the BBC website, where people immediately launch into pro-Brexit / anti-Brexit tirades, even though it's almost always completely irrelevant.

For what it's worth I saw, about a month ago, Jacob Rees-Mogg on the platform next to me at Westminster tube station (Jubilee line). He was talking to someone else who looked like an MP, but whom I did not recognise. I could have listened to what they were saying, or taken a photo, but I didn't. They were going about their business, and I about mine.

What does this prove? Nothing. Politicians of all parties travel by public transport. It isn't a news item, unless a spin doctor tries to make it so. Or someone who wants to make a (political) point, when there isn't one to be made.

Let's get back to talking about railways instead. There are other places for political point-scoring.
