TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

I was just wondering why someone would recommend RailCam whilst suggesting data should be taken with 'a pinch of salt', Timbo.

Admin 25166 'dumps' regular TOPs lists whilst others add ... which may be from the cams/sightings/yahoo groups, etc .... As you say there are many reasons why TOPs may be wrong, but the lists are often quoted as more accurate than sightings. The only issue I have with RailCam is that there are those - eg 250001 - who will add a 'sighting' waaaay in advance based upon an early allocation at places such as Felixstowe or THLG as though changes won't be made!!!!

I understand your confusion regarding the contradiction now.

There's certainly the odd "wrong-un" in the user-input info, but equally as many as TOPS (which itself relies on a combination of human in system inputs, so is far from infallible). If I really want to be sure about something I'll look to corroborate it somehow - e.g. by sight (either my own, webcams, or other reliable folk who I trust to tell me what they saw); or look for supporting photos on Flickr, gen groups etc.; or just knowledge of what is actually where/when so you know when TOPS is telling you porkies...!

Reasonably sure it was 66171 - worked 6091 in to Cliffe from Hither Green in the early hours and was showing on a TOPS report this morning as being the only loco at Cliffe and also next allocated to 7Y36.

Also looks like it was reassigned as a Class 6 working, so at a guess the headcode ended up as 6Y36.

6074 not running yet it would seem (one hour after it should have left). If it does, 66729 "Derby County" was the only loco at Bow Depot earlier this morning, so most probably that.
