Hey all,

Got the train to work today & I noticed that wifi was installed on the unit I was on (377463). This was on the homeward leg to East Grinstead.
The 4x377/3 in the morning did not have it as far as I could tell.

Does anyone know if Southern is installing wifi throughout the 377 fleet or is this a special unit?

Thanks!

A 377/7 (potentially 708) I was on yesterday had it installed but I never tested it

I think most of the units have it now, a couple I've been on have had WiFi although with my super duper amount of data in my O2 bundle I didn't bother using it.
I'd imagine your spend most your journey filling out their WiFi registration splash page

Nope, used it many times before, and unlike other TOCs, just enter email and you're good to go. Even after my 50mb faster connection ran out, it was Ok, but it blocks Snapchat due to its usage!

It took about 1 min to fill out the registration page & you're good to go. Was nice to use between Woldingham & East Grinstead.

I wondered if there was a plan to which units were wifi-enabled or it's jut random.

Do you get 50mb free then you have to pay for more?

Pretty much universal on the /6s & /7s, but still a long way off that on the other sub-fleets, I'd suggest. I seldom find myself on a wifi equipped unit and I'm on at least 2 of them most days.

Are the 377 going through any refurbishment at the moment ?
The 377/3's appear to be having a repaint at the moment. I've noticed quite a few looking fresh recently. Hopefully the 4 car 377's will have a major overhaul though, similar to what Southeastern are doing with their 375's.

Plan is to fit it to all units apart from the 313s. Starting with 377s then 171s and 455s.
The 455's are undergoing a minor refurbishment this year, supposedly starting this month, so they will most probably fit the 455's then.

I wonder why 377s have carpet in the vestibules while 375s keep a hard flooring

I do like the refurbished 375 toilets with the 'artwork' on the walls

Also... those squeaky tray tables really are intrusive . Hard to keep a straight face at times when multiple people get up to leave. No chance of a nap !
