From getting off a train at St Pancras (EMT platforms) to getting on a Norwich-bound train at Liverpool Street, using the Circle/H&C lines between the two stations, would you say it's achievable in 30 minutes?

Yes. Have done it many times platform to platform in 20.

With or without luggage?
With or without others?
Fast or Slow walker?

For me, it would be easy to achieve, hardest part is getting across the shopping arcade known as St Pancras [can't remember off hand if there is a way to stay at the top level and come down at the "LU" end of the station]. 4th coach of a S7, middle door I think lines up with the exit at Liverpool Street.

Needless to say, if you book it as separate advances, you (probably) won't be covered in the event of a delay as it will be below min interchange times

Backpack, by myself, and reasonably fast walker.

Ticket would be an ALR.

The actual journey time comes up as 11 minutes, so it's time from one end of St Pancras to the other, waiting for the Underground and the time from Liverpool Street Met/H&C/Circle to the main line station.

Of which NRE suggests 15 minutes at either end as interchange time

I think the allowed times through London stations are the slowest possible and on a realistic basis easily beatable. Naturally as well, it helps to know the best route.

The far end upstairs at St Pancras to the Underground stations is one of the longest. Others perhaps include Euston to Euston Square and Marylebone to Baker Street. There's also Paddington to Lancaster Gate for the Central Line although that seemed shorter than the interminable underground walk at Baker Street fro Bakerloo to Central. Perhaps it was just a faster route to Central Line stations the other side of Oxford Circus.

I've done St Pancras to Paddington in 20, so it should easily be doable. Just be wary of any delays, the EMT services can easily lose time.
Just out of interest, where are you coming from?

If your Norwich bound train happens to stop at Stratford, and you are very lucky to get the timings just right, High Speed to Stratford International and a brisk walk can be the quickest. Did this once in a total of 20 minutes from arriving St Pancras to being on the platform at Stratford, making a connection I would have missed if I had used the tube. 30 minutes is fine providing the tube plays ball though.

I live in Wakefield, but will probably be travelling from Leicester as I will be visiting my son the day before in Birstall.

I did actually think of doing that, but I don't think the xx00 departure from Liverpool Street calls there.

I done that in under 30 minutes before now, but also taken longer with issues with the tubes or when its crush hour for example, so possible but not guaranteed

stay walking along the top at st pancras and you'll avoid the shopping crowds. It should be fine outside rush hour.

Using the javelin to stratford is a bit of a risk. Super quick journey, but only every 15 mins.

Yes as others have said this should be doable with a little spare if everything is running to time. DON’T put your ALR in the barriers at St Pancras as they have been known to eat them so bear in mind this might add a little time as you queue to find a member of staff.

ALR's aren't valid on the Underground as far as I know.

I guess Rob meant not to put it into the barriers exiting the EMT platforms at St Pancras. The LU barriers don't capture tickets

I did indeed. They’re closed (as far as I know) the majority of the time and I’ve had one eaten. It was promptly retrieved by a slightly embarrassed member of staff that insisted I put it through the barrier. Much laughter ensued and I went on my way.

Except on inter-available routes!

What's classed as 'inter-available' routes? I'm guessing between London Terminals?

Does this mean I used my Oyster cards unnecessarily between Euston and Liverpool Street, Euston and Victoria, Waterloo and King's Cross, and Paddington and King's Cross, when I did my ALR? :frown::'(

No. None of those are inter-available. Journeys such as Stratford to Liverpool Street, the northern part of the Bakerloo line etc. Details are in our Fares Guide.

Fair enough, at least it wasn't my Central London interchanges.

I did actually use my ALR on a LU train, albeit ex-stock on the IOW. ;)
