i Have just been informed that the heathrow branch of the piccadilly line will be closed on some weekends in October like it was in june, However I have been told that Heathrow Express will be accepting LUL tickets from Paddington to Heathrow so this will be good if anyone wants to get some haulage on a class 332 or class 360 emu.

On Heathrow Express, both.

A paper Travelcard has to be Z1-6 to cover the journey, and it will likely be gripped.

You can show any Oyster whatsoever - with a Travelcard, with PAYG credit, or a dead Oyster with nothing on it - as the Express grippers don't carry any Oyster reading equipment!

Er, I am open to being corrected, but when London Underground tickets are accepted on BA's railway, isn't it only on Heathrow Connect between Hayes & Heathrow?

No as what happened on one of the weekends back in june, Heathrow express were accepting all LUL tickets on Heathrow Express and on Heathrow Connect between Hayes & Harrlington & Heathrow airport.

I think they were being paid by TFL to accept the tickets for when the piccadilly lines, heathrow branch is closed

Went on HEx on Sunday with z1-6 Travelcard and person I was travelling with showed Oyster to the gripper who had no reader. One woman showed the record card to prove she had the right entitlement on her Oyster, but was asked to show the actual card, which for all he knew could have been empty!

When there are severe delays on the Picc line or suspension, then LUL tickets are accepted on the Heathrow Connect ONLY. But weekends like the two we just had are pre-arranged for LUL customers to use the HEx/Connect.

Still get customers with Z1/2 travelcards though although when they try that on the Connect, they get charged as they are ruthless on that service (thats what i like)

Not so ruthless that I asked the guard nicely if I could buy a ticket (extension) on the train before boarding (otherwise I'd have missed it) and he said yes - but then didn't bother to come through the train to sell it to me.

I ended up going to him and he seemed rather put out!! He did sell it to me though, which with the Gold Card discount must have been a couple of quid tops!
