I presume Norwich to Liverpool services diverting via Melton and Derby would be one solution for trains? Calling at East Midlands parkway and Derby before Chesterfield?

Only appears to be one service so far approaching Sheffield for Norwich with no indication of route it will take if it doesn't terminate short 1L06 ,

there is a double 158 on a Liverpool service on the platforms at Derby as well as a 153 and another train that I am not sure on yet

I can't quite tell, but has the fire been stopped yet? I can't imagine this station being reopened before Monday.

No the fire is still burning. FRS saying they expect it to be at least an hour until the fire is extinguished.

Seems the current plan is as follows. London - Notts services spin EM Parkway. XC Notts Cardiff spin Derby. EMT Ivanhoe services spin Loughborough. EMT Matlock - Newark spin Derby.

I stayed in Nottingham and used the station a few times when it was undergoing it's re-development and a year ago used the station again and was impressed. From what I read and hear on line out here it is a sadness as to what has happened but I am glad to hear that there are no injuries or fatalities.

Smoke is still billowing from the roof

An eye witness on Sky News has said they saw smoke coming from the toilets

National Rail have put this on the disruption page http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/181344.aspx

-Trains from London St Pancras International will terminate at East Midlands Parkway

-Trains from Cardiff Central / Birmingham New Street will terminate at Derby

-Trains from Matlock will terminate at Derby

EMT saying on their page https://www.eastmidlandstrains.co.u...on-Information/DISRUPTION-Through-Nottingham/ that they have a limited replacement bus running from Nottingham Riverside Retail park around 1.5 miles away from the rail station, I assume so far away due to the level of traffic

Interesting:

If your tickets were purchased via our website, please return them to-

East Midlands Trains
Refunds Department
PO Box 23972
Edinburgh
EH3 5DA

We advise that tickets are posted via Recorded Delivery to ensure your tickets arrive safely. If they have not yet been collected and were bought online, you can request a refund by logging into My Account and going to the Order Status and Refund applications section. Please note the the conditions of some tickets may mean that they cannot be refunded.

If bought at a station, they need to be returned to the relevant station ticket office, which will process the refund.

We do not offer refunds on Print at Home tickets.

If this is a refund because of being unable to travel, this seems dodgy. Perhaps a mistake...or are they trying it on?

If there is a closure for a few days, is there much scope to implement a similar timetable to the one used in the Nottingham Blockade 2013?

I would say possibly but until they know what they are dealing with damage wise then anything could happen right now

Such a shame so soon after the upgrade... this will take a while I’ll imagine they’ll be running replacement buses to East Midlands Parkway for the foreseeable future.

I think his point was more about 'print at home' tickets not being refundable (unless I'm mistaken!).

Yes. Is it legal to not provide a service (for any reason) then say "meh, your loss"? I can't see that standing up in Court - if it was I'm sure a certain blue and yellow airline would have tried it by now.

Conditions of Travel are fairly explicit that if you don't travel because of disruption then you're entitled to a full refund:

30.1 If the train you intended to use is cancelled, delayed, or your reservation will not be honoured, and you decide not to travel, you may return the unused Ticket to the original retailer or Train Company from whom it was purchased, where you will be given a full refund with no administration fee being charged.

This Condition applies to all Tickets, including Tickets (such as advance Tickets) that are otherwise non-refundable, and also applies if you have begun your journey but are unable to complete it due to delay or cancellations and return to your point of origin.

Hanlon's razor applies. I suspect that whoever produced the above for EMT isn't familiar with the NRCoT covering disruption and is thinking of refunds where you choose not travel for your own reasons.

I was once told the same by XC... I think you can still claim under delay repay?

Interesting if true - are they inside or outside the ticket barriers? I've a friend who works as a guard on EMT based out of Nottingham, apparently there's a real problem with people smoking in the platform toilets since they cracked down on smoking on the platform there and a small number of passengers changing trains do it to avoid the faff of having to get their ticket out and leave the station for their nicotine fix.

Of course, anybody who actually knows Nottingham station knows you can leave via the footbridge and not have to worry about any of that.
If that is the cause though faulty dryers are a possibilty I hope it doesn't lead to a knee jerk closure of station toilets.

I believe the toilets involved are the ones down the side of the new concourse. They're on the left hand side as you walk to the tram.

You can't claim Delay Repay if you didn't travel.

I think this is legally very questionable. They are within their rights not to offer discretionary refunds i.e. walk-up fares minus £10. But not to refuse to refund for non-delivery of the contracted service.

I'm struggling to understand what is questionable about it? Most people who buy online at present will have TOD or posted out to them so it seems reasonable to send them in for a refund - those on print at home can surely do the same can they not or is that outside the realms of sensibleness

If it is these then they are outside the platform barriers and are 'pay to enter'. Presumably when open they are attended?
(The station plan on National Rail Enquiries is way out of date and currently reflects the situation during the building upgrade works).

Was it related to this ? or a separate incident ?
A pair of 313s on 2V16 0738 Moorgate to Welwyn Garden City have brought the wires down spectacularly at Hornsey. Only one NB line open, significant delays. Inevitable queues of SB trains waiting for platforms at Kings Cross. Moorgate line appears suspended. Chaos...

Sad news indeed. Buses are apparently in a mess too due to road closures.
EMT seem to be giving minimal info of plans for Mansfield, Worksop, Lincoln & Grantham services . Which is surprising since Mansfield/Worksop could reverse Hucknall or Bulwell (for tram connections), Lincoln/Grantham at maybe Carlton. Not a lot of creative thinking on the operations side so far but I appreciate it is both early and nowhere near as easy to implement emergency changes (STP plans) as it ought to be, especially as a passenger operator will only have a small team able to do this in today's world.
Hope EMT can provide these routes' passengers with better info and contingency services (not on roads!) soon.

Thats standard, all tickets for online orders posted are issued from Edinburgh and processed for refunds in Edinburgh
That's because it's where The Train Line are based.
Factoid: All train company website booking engines are administered by thetrainline.
