It may be because of planned engineering works or extra summer trains perhaps? Also there are sometimes other steam charters from Bristol on some Sundays to Par or Weymouth so they may not want to clash with those to dilute the market?

I do remember being told on a previous thread that they wouldn't run any Torbay Express tours during high summer after what happened in 2016 but i don't know what happened then please enlighten me.

I did not travel on it in 2016, so don't know what happened then, Perhaps some others on this forum may know? ( I did travel on it this year on the first one in June this year, it was hauled by Tornado but also had a diesel doing most of the work owing to a poss fire risk? )

Just found out you were right but I'm not in Devon on any of those dates I wish the 19th August tour could be brought forward by a week and then I could film it at Dawlish or somewhere.

This again?!? We had this same sort of thread last year explaining to you that they don't plan charters just so you can film them in devon!

I reckon you should reschedule your annual holiday Matthew. September’s a nice time to be in Devon. Or June...

Sorry family tradition to spend the first 2 weeks of August in Devon besides there use to be a Torbay Express tour on one of those 2 Sundays I was there so why can't there be anymore someone did say to me last year that they wouldn't run any during high summer now why is that?

If you want to see/video this train, you need to plan around it - they aren't going to arrange it around you! Or are you intending keeping up the tradition of moaning about it every year?

You could get lots of good pictures of the Paighton to Kingswear Line which is not that far to go and also the Steam trains that go from near Totnes to Buckfastleigh? I think there is sometimes a little steam in the Okehampton area too?? Then a bit further down in Cornwall is the Bodmin Steam Railway which is quite scenic.

Also worth noting that the Torbay Express has some competition from Saphos Trains this year, with two 'English Riviera Express' Sunday trips (on June 24th and July 1st) which feature steam between Bristol and Kingswear.
