indeed its bedford (Cl 319 next to it) never ever heard off a Cl158 here before

anyone know what they were up too, staff training/route learning/staff familiarisation, shake down/test run after refurb(158854 very shinny).

No idea about this working, but 158s sometimes came down to Bedford, IIRC, on proving runs in early days from Derby

How about a Bedford - Corby shuttle which utilises the freight lines all the way taking advantage of the new third line between Harrowden Junction and Kettering? Seems that could be quite detrimental to freight pathing though!

Just to add they arrived at 1110 from the north and departed back north 5 minitues later, 100 % not in pax service.believe headcode was 5T47.

Why? I think the refurb'ed units would be great on the lightly loaded Corby - London service; give Liverpool - Norwich a chance with the Meridians!

My guess is this train was in Bedford on one of the Sundays when drivers made themselves unavailable.
