I think there must have been a railtour that the person the evening post interviewed was waiting for which was cancelled but this HST came along.

Just goes to show how handy it is to have railway enthusiasts taking pictures dont it?

Apparently suspended. Outrageous <snip>

Agreed, should be thanked at the least for that. He benefitted both passenger safety, (if you can call her a passenger), and the time-keeping of the service, (as you mention).

But I wonder, if he did have further action taken against him, would the papers be as interested as they were with the original story...

I think the driver was asked by signallers to stop and pick her up and take her to bristol parkway where she was taken away by teh BTP, aparantly she had no ticket that why she decided to walk along the track but i would have thought that since most of the FGW trains from yate are only 2 carriages the conductor would have come round the train

Well - first time that common sense gets an approval then it would seem!

I have to say she did it in style, I read about it previously and assumed it would be a local service that stopped to get her off the track, not an XC HST!
Lucky though that no-one was injured, and I should hope the driver wasn't suspended!

As has already been said the driver hasnt been suspended as he was aparantly asked by signallers to stop and pick her up, so as to reduce the disruption to other services.

besides i think there would be uproar if he was suspended

Me and my uncle giggled at this story! I remeber reading it the other day, the driver saved her life(if she's that stupid to jump in front of an oncoming train) and then take her to Parkway and the BTP who said she was normal, weather he was told to do this i dunno, but he certainly shouldn't be suspended

I think other people have had a laugh about this especially since the article has also apeared in the latest copies of rail, railway magazine together with more photos showing this stupid womaI spoke to a freind who asked: ''since when did trains become taxis?''

Apparently suspended. Outrageous tbh. The amount of delay minutes he will have saved...

That's scandalous!! <( How can they suspend him for picking her up? He stopped the train for only a couple of minutes to pick her up. If she'd have got much further they'd have shut the line etc etc. Ridiculous...just shows how stupid regulations prevail over common sense and morality!
