Hi,

When I investigated why there are no class 45 railtours (simple googling) I came across some news articles about lots of trouble on those that ran in years gone by. Was it a tradition on class 45 railtours to cause trouble? Has anyone on here had an experience on a class 45 railtour that had police involvement or other troubles?

Thanks,

PS. We need a mainline certified class 45 doing the rounds on the mainline.

There are no Class 45 railtours for the same reason as there are no Class 14, 15, 26, 27, 28 (etc) railtours - there are none that are certified!

I'm not going to say anything unkind about Peak bashers...

This was an interesting read. Can anyone tell me if the classic "my lords" salute has any connection to the Nazi one or is it pure coincidence? When I used to mix with bashers I never got the vibe that it was political - rather it was simply a well suited gesture to use while hanging out of the train window.

I do remember seeing mild racism - a Chinese guy walked through the carriage filled with Deltic bashers and the word "dong" was chanted by several people.

The My Lords bears as much resemblance to a nazi salute as the salute of the Changing of the guard. Its an arm held out sideways with an open hand in a friendly gesture. As for the Brits being totally unable to hold their booze on any day out from railtours to family christenings, well, its the state of the nation. Its why we had opening hours.

I seem to remember an incident involving a class 45 rail tour and an impromptu football match at Waterloo station many years a go.

Recall one at Marylebone waiting for the stock for “The Red Brick Rambler” in 1986. Stock had been sent to Euston instead of Marylebone so there was a slightly delayed departure.
Ball got lost after it went through an open office window.
