If I have a season ticket (not TFL travelcard), is it accepted on buses which run entirely/partially along the route?
I think the buses are 17, 45, 46, 63 (although 17, 46 only serve City Thameslink and not Blackfriars).

Thank you for the very quick reply. I will stay away from 46 then and stick to 17, 45, 63.

I wonder why the map shows that tickets are accepted in underground stations such as Oxford Circus, Warren Street, etc.? They are not normally served by trains!

Is it not just showing the subset of the tube map that you can typically use for through journeys? I expect you'd get the usual blank looks if you tried to enter or leave at the vast majority of stations shown.

By making all of those parallel routes eligible, there's less chance of any tube closures (planned or impromptu) preventing legitimate TL passengers getting across the core. With such a variety of options, it does mean that many of those wishing to visit places within zone 1 could avoid getting a Travelcard by using an out of station interchange station, e.g. Tower Hill or the appropriate buses.

Anyone been able to find out the train times to/from St Pancras for this period? It isn't obvious (to me anyway) from the Thameslink website!

Euston is greyed out, interestingly. Are they still doing escalator work?

Just look them up on NRE?
yes I can do this but as I'm likely to be travelling at various different times and possibly from different stations it's a bit inconvenient!
Clearly, it's too much to expect Thameslink to make a pdf of the timetable available to download, then I'd have everything to hand (or phone) anyway.

Just hammer it into RTT and it's a fair bit easier to navigate.

As a starting point, here's the 28th from 0000-2359 at St Pancras.

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sea...8/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt&toc=TL

General rule seems to be xx08, xx24, xx38, xx54 calling at West Hampstead, St Albans, all stations to Bedford. xx01 and xx31, all stations to Luton.

The map is also incorrect in showing the routes of 17 (it passes east of Holborn, and does not go anywhere near Covent Garden) and 45 (it shares the same route as 17, not 63).
The map also does not make clear that you will not be able to catch 17 by waiting outside Kings Cross station (see http://content.tfl.gov.uk/bus-route-maps/kings-cross-a4-170617.pdf).
I would be in big trouble if I rely it and do not know any better.

1. That's because it is not a geographical map. It is a diagram of connections between two or more points, and it is superimposed on the very familiar tube diagram (which is itself non-geographical, a famous example being Cannot Street to Bank). Putting the 45 alongside the 17 leaves you a right-angle at City TL, and the tube map doesn't do right angles!

2. For northbound passengers - and for the southern half southbound too - the 17 is a perfectly convenient option and therefore ought to be shown. I imagine passengers at Kings Cross would be directed to the 63/45, but if you weren't transferring from NR and happened to spot a 17 stop it would be nice to know your ticket was valid.
