Sorry if this has been brought up elseware.

Is the plan to cascade London Overground's 313/1's to Southern West Coastway services, in turn allowing 3-car 377's to move to South London Metro services still going ahead, it said on wikipedia they were but now says again that they are going to join the rest off the 313 fleet at Hornsey. Are Southern perhaps worried that the 313's will cause more passengers to complain, thus landing southern a hefty fine??

I hadn't heard of a plan to move 313's to Southern - what's your (reliable) source for this plan?

Southern wouldn't get fined just because the passengers complained that they didn't like a particular type of stock. If so those operators running Pacers would be insolvent :)

I think there was a plan to use the 313s on the Brighton to West Worthing stopping service. However several diagrams interchange with other coastway workings especially in the peaks and some doubts have been expressed as to the 313s ability to keep to time on the 75mph/85 mph sections West of Arundel Junction or indeed whether the 313s would stand up to running at high speed on dc.
One of the main problems with the introduction of the 442s on the Brighton Line is their inability to keep to Electrostar Schedules. A 10 car 442 is often 10 to 15 mph slower on the uphill gradients than a 12 car 377 in my experience.

never said it was reliable, just rumour, it was mentioned on another thread about the south central franchise, and also appeared for a while under class 313 on wikipedia (not that that is reliable), also i heard somewhere (cannot remember where now, may have been the same thread) that southern would face fines if customer complaints continued to rise

I thought the class 313's from London Overground were being sent to First capital connect for use on the great northern services into Moorgate.

FCC is getting some additional 313 to boster its GN services into Moorgate to 6 cars. Ive heard (and I can't remember for the life of me where,) that there is some left over for the Coastway plan.

Having the 313 on Coastway means refurishing them to 377 standards, if thats possible. From the last thing I heard from Southern staff the 313 plan was still going ahead but keeping time maybe a factor in them not being run.
