Michael Pritchard Murder Case Re-Opens

The investigation in to the murder of Michael Pritchard has re-opened, 20 years after the courier was murdered on The Cunnery, Kirk Langley, Derbyshire.

The Crimewatch clip from 1997 shows that there was witnesses, yet there has still been no conclusion. Michael's wife gave an exclusive interview this month, appealing for anyone with information to come forward. On the surface, it seems like a robbery gone wrong, but could this have been a planned murder? And, if so, what would the motives be?

I am interested in cold cases, I guess I'm a modern day Angela Lansbury. I'm curious to hear theories. I don't know what to think at this stage in my investigation, there seems to be conflicting circumstances.

Well yes. If it was a clear case the professionals would have sorted it out years ago. A bunch of amateurs is unlikely to have all the information to be able to solve the case!

Well, I wouldn't quite go that far! I think the case needs a fresh pair of eyes though. Someone to ask, what was going on in Kirk Langley at that time? Who did Mr Pritchard interact with in the days leading up to his tragic death? It seems another vehicle was involved, was it rented? Stolen?

Indeed - but give us something to go on! The OP doesn't even give us his thoughts or why he thinks there might be an issue. He suggests it might be some form of a contract killing yet offers nothing to support this crazy theory.

It looks very much like a robbery gone wrong leading to a tragic death of a man going about his business. Someone knows what happened and they haven't talked. Yet. I doubt it is a gangland hit as the poster seems to want it to be.

A simple question: If it is a gangland hit why use a van to run someone down in a residential area? Just shoot or stab them somewhere quiet.

While I agree it could be a pre planned murder I suggest you are living in a fantasy world. I think the limit of pre planning was to nick a van and rifle the parcels rather than a pre planned murder. i suspect there was a burglary gang on the prowl and things went wrong. I know that is much more dull than some kind of underworld contract killing but is much more likely.

You are also applying far too much weight to the second vehicle. A robbery/burglary gang would have a get a way vehicle. Surely that is obvious.
