Hello to all.

I was wondering if anyone had the times/information/dates for Grand Central testing class 180 Adelantes.

The unit on test at the moment is 180112 and 105 to arrive shortly.

Still in FGW Livery.

Thanks.

Wouldn't mind some timings myself although I did see it yesterday being held on the up fast outside Darlington at 16:30. Can only presume it was for route learning in the event of diversions away from the Durham Coast.

Incorrect, the unit on test is 105,112 is at wolverton getting refresh done to it such as wi-fi,electrical sockets in the coaches and is also being liveried in GC black ;)
As for the timings it will mostly be late afternoons after 4pm,hence Darandio spotted it at darlo !! It is not out as a route learner as we have the diversions already signed off,its out for driver training along with the snr conductors in readiness for 4th path,Im on it this week !! :D;)

I wonder if it will be coming to Hartlepool again within the next week or so, BOSCH, could you shed some light on this?

I think a Class 180 in GC Livery is actually quite attractive.

The training runs are weds to fri and leave heaton at 1552,ncl 1600ish and then ecml to york and then via Askern to doncaster return via Askern to york, ecml to ncl then via gateshead/heworth/pelaw to s/land arr 2035,dep 2040 to york via durham coast(hartlepool at around 2100/2105 ;)).arr york 2213 dep 2225 to heaton via ecml !! ;) These were the times I worked to last week on my training runs so I dont think they'll change.

just hope the 180s dont have a lot of problems like we had on FGW i would say they are the fastest DMU on the network 125mph very rapid will work a treat on the ECML and selective door opening also

Iam back home to sunderland for a few days soon i,ll be travelling on GC still cant beat HST,s though

Are you joking? HT are having some terrible punctuality and reliability with their 180's!

hull trains aren't having problems with them though...

Erm, sorry? There has rarely been a day when I've been to the interchange in Hull and not seen a cancelled or severely delayed Hull Trains service in the last few months!

oh sorry
i hadn't heard they were having problems with them and i assumed that they were doing fine :(
can a 180 go at 125 on four engines?
and what about with 3, 2 or even 1 engine running?

you are joking? 1 engine running, it'd be taken out of service. It couldnt keep anywhere near timings. NXEC would be p***** off

I think they get taken out of service if less than 3 engines were running.

Up to that point, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to do 125mph, it will just take them longer to accelerate up to that speed. Tbh, I think any difference in the fuel economy would be minimised by the longer times it would have to spend accelerating to keep up with linespeeds.
