Derbyshire Wayfarer - High Peak Pull Out! (update: now back in)

From 4 April 2016, High Peak Buses will no longer accept Derbyshire Wayfarer tickets on their Services 61 (except on Sundays), 69/69A, 185/186, 199 and TP 'Transpeak' (except on Sundays). It will still be accepted and sold on their other services. For more information about this change, please contact High Peak Buses.

Presumably that is their 'commercial' network and they are withdrawing it from the scheme. The loss of the Transpeak will make a dent in the tickets network coverage. Also High Peak don't offer any sort of day ticket of their own covering the whole route (or network) of Transpeak which I've always found odd.

Wow. That puts me off returning to Derbyshire for a holiday - the Wayfarer was a big draw for me. But without the TP, it's rather less attractive.

Looks like they'll still be accepting the TfGM Wayfarer which is valid from Manchester as far as Crich on the TP.

That's bad. I always thought that the whole idea of this type of ticket was that you could travel on any bus in the county without having to pay additional fares. You could also travel throughout the county without having the worry of checking whether your ticket will be valid on each part of your journey.

I hope this is just a one off and that it isn't something that is going to happen with all these types of tickets in other areas. I've made use, whilst on holiday, of the Essex Saver for travel on all buses in Essex and the Discovery for travel throughout Suxxex, Surrey and Kent. Not to mention the tickets available in urban areas like West Yorkshire, West Midlands and even London. I've always wished that Nottinghamshire would introduce this type of multi operator ticket.

Does anyone know whether these High Peak Services will still allow use of the Greater Manchester Wayfarer?

Do you remember the Sherwood Forester ticket valid on Sundays & Bank Holiday Mondays on ANY bus in Notts. And wasn't it also valid in places on weekdays during the Summer School Holidays? I know it survived deregulation but forget when it eventually finished....

It was still running in 1996 when I left Notts. It was valid on (at the very least) the Stagecoach 33 every day. I don't think it was any bus in Notts on Sundays but it was an awful lot of them as it included all council-supported journeys (including those that left the county). At some point between 1992 and 1996 NCT added their entire network instead of just selected routes.

For some daft reason my original thread had been closed so I couldn't update it so I've had to start a new one.

I do not see what is daft. Threads are locked automatically after a certain period of time passes with no responses. You also do not have to start a new thread. If new information has come to light since a thread was last commented in, you can report the first post requesting it to be unlocked, or PM a moderator with links (you can even see who is online on the home page) explaining briefly why you think it should be unlocked.

I'm wondering if the statement saying that it is accepted on all their services takes precedence over the fact that some routes are completely outside the area (the P1, 392 and 393 spring to mind)

They presumably mean within the Wayfarer validity area as the statement has a get out clause:

My guess is a combination of the two. If I had a rover ticket that was ostensibly valid across the whole of a county, and one operator refused to accept it, I wouldn't be too happy at having to fork out another fare. McGills in Scotland is another example in point!
