Travelling on 2L78 from Upper Warlingham to London Bridge and it's formed of a 3+5+4 formation (specifically 377 308 + 377 620 + 377 403) which I thought was weird. Is that normal for this working now? Thought it was 4x 377/3.

When I first glanced, I thought you had a 308 in there. That would have been weird !

I would say that is pretty unusual. Often see 377/3s formed with 4 car 377s. I have never seen a 377/6 with anything other than another 377/6, I don't think.

Whenever I'm in London, I also use Upper Warlingham station, and up until my May visit, it's always been 1/2/3 times a 4-car 377. But when I came in August, there seemed to be much more variety with 3- and 5-car 377's also being thrown in, even giving me an 11-car set once.

I’ve seen a couple 377/6’s paired with 377/3’s to make an 8 car train

That's quite rare. I've only ever seen a 377/3 + 377/6 + 377/1 combo once at London Bridge when I used to commute up to London.

Been on a 377/4 + 377/6 combo once to Redhill. Can't remember the date though!

Time for the dumb question from the cheap seats...

Does that feel any different than driving 4+4?
Does driving from the 5 car end feel any different to the 3 car end?

(Rationale behind question being the distribution of motors, weight, etc)

No not enough to notice. the braking is slightly different between the two sub classes though.
