GA Class 153s

Hi all,

On a Saturday a couple of weeks ago I went to Norwich for a day out spotting. I managed to get numbers for 4 of the 5 class 153s that GA have, but I later travelled past Crown Point depot and saw (what looked like) another class 153 inside. Could this've been the one I didn't get the number of or is there a possibility that one of the 4 I had already seen had gone into the depot? It was right inside of the depot with no tail lights on, so I think there is a high possibility that this is the one I need.

Any ideas on this are appreciated.

It could have been the 5th unit, or then again it could have been one you saw previously having retired for the day. Or it might not have even been a 153 at all as you don't seem certain that it was. With such a vague question, no one can confirm anything unless they have access to the fleet allocation on the day.

Does spotting by the process of elimination count?

I would say it’s logical the unit in crown point was one of the four you saw at Norwich.

There’s a 153 which works the Felixstowe shuttles.

And a second 153 on the Sudbury branch on a Saturday.

It was a 156 on the Felixstowe branch that day, unless it swaps?

was this the 16th Sept? Also what unit are you missing?

The 153 for the Sudbury was late arriving on this day due to a fire at Claydon the night before and ran to Colchester for 11.30. The 156 from the night before went direct to Crown Point for fuel when swapped out

Can't help for that one sorry, the Sudbury that day was a 156 due to Chappel Beer Fest

Been having a right Scud fest at Norwich today. 306 shunt C/R-1, 322 attached to 156417 on top with 12:40 arr & all off to Crown Point via Trowse to get 306 leading. Drop off 417 & it's faulty buried in cab & shunt 335 from the pad to 9rd & couple to 306/322. Take the trio mainline to Jubilee Sidings leaving 306/322 on one road for the 15+55 cars to Lowestoft whilst detaching 335 & leave on another as a hot spare.

52 cab was buried in for something like washer bottles but I wasn't really paying attention. Dumped it on 9rd at lunchtime.

They are booked on 08:55, 12:05, 12:58, 14:05, 15:50 (x2), 20:05 & 22:40.

I was aware of them on those diagrams, but they were on some of the diagrams today that is normally run by 2 car DMUs.

Nothing unusual then. Saturday's 19:40 Cambridge was a Scud & left punters behind according to Twitter.
