Did you get any sleap in that travelodge smack bang in the middle of partyland?

Aberdeen was pretty quiet the time i stopped there so apart the the traffic noise it was'nt too bad (On last years ALR i got a free upgrade to the buisness class floor which was higher up and away from the road but no luck this year )

14 Day ALR -Day 9,12th Sept 2017

A change of plan for day 9, which was supposed to be a move to Inverness and then a trip up to wick but as i'm planning to do that and the kyle line on my next spirit of scotland rover next march (my birthday bash ) i threw out the plan and jumped on a 170 (170401) to edinbrugh and caught 91126 to newcastle.the next move was going to be a 156 to sunderland for a grand central 180 to york for the HST back to aberdeen,but i decided aginst it and went on the next edinbrugh bound service (91105) and bailed at Berwick on tweed for a look round,some fish and chips ( and a pint ) then it was back to edinbrugh(43314 & 43311) for another fife circle loco hauled run (68004 this time which i had on my last spirit of scotland rover ) i stayed on to kirkcaldy agian this time catching a 170 (170476) opting to bail at leuchars for the HST set back to aberdeen and the travelodge

14 Day ALR -Day 10,13th Sept 2017
I arrived at aberdeen station at the same time as the HST test set departed on a run to dundee (gonna be great to bash scotrail some HSTs next year ) ,day 13s first move of the day was the 0820 XC Voayger from aberdeen to penzance, but there was no way i was going to endure 221132 all the way to there so i bailed at haymarket for a trip to the co-op for supplys and after a veg it was time to get the HST (43311 &43296) to york and then 91111 from york to doncaster.from there it was supposed to be a unit back to sheffield but i opted for a run to Cleethorpes on 185132 for another chippy tea-this time at the swanky Papa's on the pier (very poish for cleethorpes with chanderliers ) and then 186122 back to donny for a hour's spotting and then to round off the day a bit of pacer bashing (142026) back to sheffield

14 Day ALR -Day 11,14th Sept 2017
Day 11 was a late-ish start with the 0955 from woodhouse to retford on a wedged 153317 instead of the normal pacer,from retford it was 91106 all the way to Kings cross and a quick walk across the road to St pancras inrernational for a trip down HS1 on 395014 to dover priory from there it was a fill in move to canterbury east and back (465924 there and 465933 back ) then it was on 395002 to deal for a hours look round,a great little seaside town with a nice pier and a even nicer wetherspoons (The Sir Norman wisdom ) then it was 395015 to sandwich (which is a horrid station, miles away from the town and was full of chav schoolkids ) then it was a ride on 37550 on Ramsgate for another javelin (395007) to Ashford international for an gour's vegging then it was 395018 back to st prancras for ameridian (222017) to Leicster and then another (222005) to derby and finally a HST set (43045 & 43076) back to sheffield just in time for the last bus home

14 Day ALR -Day 12,15th Sept 2017 Day 1's plans changed due to me not wanting to go to london on the day of the parsons green tube attack (and also the Harrow lineside fire) so it was a packed meridian (222006) to derby then a half empty 170 to Birmingham new Street.from there it was a virgin super Voyager to shrewsbury.Then i had a choice of my last 2 lines required in wales ,Aberystwyth or Pwhelli ,i chose the former so it was 158824 to Aberystwyth for a walk round the town and a visit to the pier (sadly no time to have a ride on the vale of rhiedol line but i got a few piccys and im hoping to go back next year) then it was back to shrewsbury on 158840 and then 1another 158 (158836) to chester for the loco hauled service from Hollyhead to crewe (67018 was that days loco which i had on the inverness sleeper on my spirit of scotland rover ) then the final move of the day was 350264 to birmingham new street for my digs for the next 2 nights -birmingham Premier inn

14 Day ALR -Day 13,16th Sept 2017
day 13 started with a walk from the new street premier inn to moor street for a unit (172343) to stourbridge Jct for a run on the stourbridge town line on a parry people mover (139001) then it was another 172 (172344) to Kidderminster for a few hours on the Severn valley railway. I had 1500 class 1501,Ivatt class 4 43106 and Hover 50035 (i just missed out on getting "intercity"hover 50031 but at least i got one hoover in ) then it was back to kidderminster for another unit (172331) to Worcster foregate street for a GWR HST (43149 & 43124 ) i bailed at Oxford there was work going on at reading and as it was going only as far as didcot parkway and i did'nt fancy a rail replacement bus to Maidenhead i got a XC Voayger (220012) to coventry for a ride on 350374 back to new street

14 Day ALR -Day 14,17th Sept 2017
The final day of the ALR and not too much bashing as it was the day of showbus 2017,so it was a move from birmingham to derby on a super voayger (221121) to derby for a meridian (222013) to east midlands parkway i was expecting this to be severly delayed as there was a track machine derailment overnight (a stoneblower at trent junction ) but the unit went up the nottingham line and reversed back onto the midland mainline, i'll not bore you with the showbus visit but it was an enjoyable event with some very nice vintage viechles. on returning to EM parkway it was another meridian move (222012) to bedford. from there i was going to have a run to brighton and back on a 700 but decided against it so it was back home On a EMT HST (43045 & 43066) to sheffield.So that was my 14 day ALR for 2017 (probobly not doing one next year as i want to concentrate on a few areas so i'll be doing some regional rovers: ) ).
