Best UK Rail First Class

It's Poll time again! Who operates the best first class on the UK rail network? This has been done before but train operators do change! Take into account seats, legroom, food and service.

Seating wise I think it has to be GWR, though I haven't experienced the service.

From what I've used, I'd probably say VTWC, though they do need to stop hogging the seats.

I had that problem on Saturday, seats I wanted to use supposedly staff seats, but two of the three weren't used at all. Best first class I would've said VTWC until a few days ago, but I think GWR is better.

I'm gonna vote XC because it offers best value to me personally.

for the seats (rather than the service) it has to be Heathrow Express, 1+1 seating

GWR for the very nice seats and tasteful decor. Also they have some nice complimentary drinks and snacks. (The fruit cake is very good)

Got to be South Eastern on the 465/9s, comfy 2+2 seating on a noisy networker

ATW Premier, though it is an outlier for many reasons.

Overall, VTWC is the most consistently good First Class provider.

GWR Pullman is a close runner up to ATW.

I have voted for ATW because they have by far the best meals and the service is wonderful. As far as value for money goes, I have also selected VT as their hot food is almost always fantastic and you can get it on services where reasonably priced Advance tickets are available (e.g. an evening meal on a service from Manchester Piccadilly). I have also selected East Midlands Trains again for reasons of good value. Their hot food is paid for but it's very good, and they even taking together the cost of the food and the ticket they are generally cheaper than some of the others.
