I notice that some people have 'Established Member' or 'Veteran Member' by their username. What is this all about? Is it based on the number of posts you have made? And how many different categories are there?

Thanks

EDIT: Title should say 'on' instead of 'of'

You are correct, those titles are based on the number of posts you make, and if I remember correctly there are three titles.

These are "Member", "Established Member" and "Veteran Member".

And then there’s people like me - specialist roles within the forum who get job titles

There is also "New Member" (I think it is) for members with 5 posts or less

There used to be a lot more "ranks", but it went through simplification some time ago (and not the National Rail type of simplification :P)

Yep, there are a few special people

That takes me back, I can just about remember those! Based on job titles weren't they?

I was thinking of starting a thread with exactly the same title, but in a different angle...

Great idea. I think I fit into at least two of those.

Interesting idea but how would it work- would members choose which category they want to fall under or what?

I think it might have been slightly tongue in cheek Pudsey. ;)

I think it's above 1,000 posts to get "Established Member" and above 10,000 posts to get "Veteran Member"

Imagine having anytime posters, off peak posters and those who have to post a minimum of 12 posts before 10am. And it gets even more complicated if posters decide to break conversation part way through and continue later.

Or posters on the no frills side of the 'Aviation Discussion' thread, where it is free to join, but you have to pay extra if you want to:

choose which thread to post in
Start posting more than 15 minutes after logging in
Want to write a slightly larger post than everyone else
Have a small bag to carry your device that you use to post your comment
change a post
delete a post
Have a cup of tea with your post
Need a hard copy of your post
Use a credit card to pay for any of the above

That will be the Ryanair forum. Unfortunately it is 404 at short notice due to the moderators all going on holiday at the same time.
