Would Stagecoach refund those, or would responsibility to honour that promise automatically roll over into First/MTR? Would it make any difference which side of Saturday night a claim was made (if, indeed, positive action is required by the passenger)?

No action is required - the discount is applied at season ticket renewal.

Amen to that. As a regular passenger for 14 of their 21 years, I'm going to miss them. I think they've done a great job and I've really found little to complain about through the years. Here's hoping that SWR do just as good a job - seems to me they'll be inheriting great staff.

Yes a brilliant well respected TOC with a high standard of train presentation and mostly very comfortable trains

Clearly you've never had to stand on a busy 455 on a hot July day. Like travelling in an oven

Hi all,

I believe I've found the branding for South Western Railway, on an in-development website they've left open without a password. As far as I can see the logo hasn't been made public anywhere else yet. Here it is:

Judging by the rest of the website, they've gone for a navy/light blue/yellow colour scheme. Completely different to GWR.

Here's a leaflet showing a high resolution version of the branding in use: http://orr.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0006/25386/first-mtr-swt-dppp-approval-letter.pdf

Great find! I found a similar PDF on the ORR site, but without the branding. It was confirming the approval of SWR's complaints handling policy: http://orr.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0005/25385/first-mtr-swt-chp-approval-letter.pdf

Interesting bits:

Initially we will continue to operate the charter delay scheme where compensation levels are
determined by the performance of service groups around the network. We will be moving to the
Delay Repay Scheme, initially for delays over 30 minutes then moving to a compensation scheme
for delays over 15 minutes, later in the franchise. Under these schemes, compensation payments
are clearer and often the process of attaining compensation when the punctuality has not been
what was expected is easier.
Dependant on the nature of your complaint, we may offer you a one off gesture of goodwill as
compensation where appropriate

We will be launching a scheme called Back on Track at the start of 2018. This gives our staff
the ability to solve a problem on the spot (where appropriate), removing the need for you to
get in touch after your journey.

Yellow? Please no! That logo is, umm, odd...

We've lost any trace of one of the best liveries and colour schemes on the network then, as well as one of the best TOCs. I thought blue and red had been suggested at one point, so as not to be enormously dissimilar to what's already in place.

The Colour Scheme is not South West Trains, it's pretty much a Stagecoach theme so it's not hard to work out that it's not going to be kept on.

I am still confused on branding iptions for a new toc these days

Clearly corporate branding isn't banned or abellio would be forced to use brand neutral colours sdespite dropping the name

Would a risible brand such as 'one' be allowed again?

It's also very well regarded, however. Well thought out and stylish.

To my eye, this looks very, very similar to Southeastern. I'd have thought that standing out from your neighbouring TOC would have been preferable to looking the same.

I'm not sure that anyone knows

We all complain about liveries and logos being too garish then complain when fairly plain/simple one comes along. It's bad when they all try to be unique and also bad when they look too similar to each other.

One minute it's "no branding allowed" then along come VTEC who aren't shy at getting the Virgin name on everything!

FWIW I like the South Western Railway image posted here - nothing too complicated, a bit like a section of the old BR 'double arrows' pointing in a south-westerly direction - quite conservative - doesn't feature the name of First or MTR - pretty decent.

SWT was a strong brand and a strong name, but obviously linked to the Stagecoach colours (even if not using their name). Keeping a livery of red (local trains for local people)/ blue (middle distance)/ white (longer distance) would have been my way forward, but we don't know yet whether First/ MTR plan a three tier scheme or not.

I guess that "one" would be acceptable against certain modern guidelines - it's a brand that could be taken over by a successor organisation (compared to NXEA) - a daft name but at least going in the same direction as SWT/EMT in terms (having a "family" of colours with different types of train in liveries specific to their type of operation). But I'm going off-topic here!

Surely its a refund at renewal time. I would expect that its a payment made by Stagecoach SWT as its a liability of the current franchise to First MTR SWR who will need to action.

When South West Trains Limited became Stagecoach South West Trains Limited (2009?), there was a different refund form if your season ticket was taken out before the change so that the refund was accounted for by the correct franchise.

Whether it's well regarded or not one company is never going to brand themselves in the colours and liveries of one of their biggest rivals, or do you think Stagecoach would brand a train operator in pink and purple as well?

Christ, don't remind me of those days, they were about as dark as it got in over 15 years of commuting on the GEML and I actually voluntarily relocated in my company to get away from the complete extreme disaster that was 'one' and honestly NXEA was complete disaster too just not quite as bad.

And you have to remember the rainbow liveries! At 'one' stage (sorry!) there was a livery rake with 5 different liveries on it and as for that dreadful rainbow livery there was about 3-4 versions of that!

Can't think of anywhere where they're neighbours in the normal course of things. Southern generally acts as a buffer zone :D

If this is the final logo.. why didnt they have the arrow pointing to the South West???

It's coming from the South West, because it's for people of South West who are going elsewhere rather than people from elsewhere who are going to the South West I'd assume?

I guess if you're the sort to get your Gillingham (Dorset) mixed up with your Gillingham (Kent) it could be an issue. But otherwise the only interaction with Southeastern is the Waterloo/Waterloo East link
