Any Heritage lines to "adopt" any Class 314s?

Title more-or-less says it all, really. I use the 314s every day, and it'd kinda suck badly if they were just to be scrapped like that.

Would a 314 really be noteworthy, though? They're not exactly a part of Glasgow Life in the same way that 303s were: even my train-phobic mum remembers the "Glasgow Blue Trains".

The problem with these more modern EMU's like the Cl314 is that they will really only be candidates for static exhibition. Unlike the 1st generation of DMU's and EMU's they cannot be loco-hauled with passengers, so unless a heritage line is thinking of installing 25kV AC OLE there is limited attraction for such concerns to hoover up units of this era.

I think the best bet is to get behind the efforts to preserve a Cl313 at the NRM. It is unrealistic to assume that at least one example of every class will be saved, but at least there will be an example of the same family of units preserved.

It would be great to see a 25kv AC preserved line or even a borrowed line such as old dalby or the new Knitting a Long Marston but alas it seems the second you mention the ideas to more serious folk you get laughed at.

OLE on the GEML is already heritage.

Not for too long apparently though.
After the GE is re-done that leaves only the former DC line out of Manchester the only one with converted DC catenary.
To be honest I don't see why someone hasn't tried to buy the old OHLE of Network rail.

Exactly, I'm sure I heard something about 313001 being donated to the NRM as the rep of the family.

Only a rumour mind you.

Sorry. Didn't spot this earlier.

The OLE on the GEML isn't being replaced but modified. This means that there are additional structures going up while some (but not all) of the existing ones are being modified. The idea is simply to replace the existing non-tensioned wires with tensioned wires. While Nitwit Rail are taking the opportunity to carry out some renewal tasks, the OLE on the GEML will largely remain as it was before.
