Fingers crossed for tomorrow. We will probably laugh about it when we get home

Not the first time that this has happened either, a similar incident happened only a few months ago.
Sam

Myself and my GF visiting Manchester on Holiday. Arrived Friday evening and going home tomorrow. As we are staying in Salford Quays we planned to easily get up Sat morning, have brekko in hotel. Go for a walk around this area then get the Metro to Deansgate to visit the Museum Science and Industry. Upon arrival at the Metro station at Salford Quays it ws chaos. Packed plattform. Next train stuck on two mins for maybe 15, then went upto 17!! Tried pressing help point button but nothing happened. Tried calling manchester travel on mobile but coudlnt get through. Some folk on platform advised to try and walk, they reckon it would take much less than an hour.

We got totally lost and ended up in some deserted residential/ industrial areas. To make matters worse I stepped in some dog doos that was left on the pavement, that I had to find a shop to buy water and tissues to clean up!

Eventually after 3 hours, we reached the museum.

We went for a walk around after that and into some nice areas. We went to head back early evening to the hotel to get ready as we had dinner reaervations for 7pm at a restaurant in Salford Quays area. Only to find, the whole lot had shut down.

The Metro station did have staff who told us to go to Piccadilly area and take bus 33. They told us there were plenty of bus staff there helping passengers. There was none!

We got 33 and ws helped by fellow passengers and driver to where to get off. No other tourists seemed to be on this bus affected! Sadly when we got off, it was miles from the hotel and we took a wrong turn again. It took ages to get back and we was late for dinner.

We was told to get the 50 bus this time, to get into Manchester centre, as the Metro was still closed. We wanted to get some drinks and explore a bit more. By the time we got there, we only had time to get to a couple places then had to go back as the last 50 bus (which we had to find the stop for) was an hour eaelier than the last Metro we was going to use. And because of problems earlier in the day we arrived much later than planned.

It just seems to me such a cop out, a couple of problems came up so they just think sod it lets give up and try tomorrow.

And the whole network as well?

We have a few hours tomorrow, until we have to head to the airport at about 4pm. So I hope its all running ok tomorrow to get us around. We need to be at the Cathedral by 11 at the very latest for the Mass Service! It looks a beautiful building.

And does anyone know how we go about claiming a refund for our travelcards, once we return home?

Thanks x

I arrived for my duty as a driver at 3pm and was told to sit in the canteen

7 hours later I was sent home..3 hours before I was supposed to finish

No radios..signals or points were working at one point..all the units were called back to depot..we got a note saying specialists from Birmingham were being sent up to fix the problem

Hopefully it will be up and running tomorrow as I'm on Bury-Alt training (Learning a new route)

Back in London now. Thankfully the Metro worked ok yesterday and got us back to the Airport for our flight. Though I did feel compelled to get there 3 hours early just in case it went wrong again !

Now I have kept our travel cards and want to be claiming for the total loss of service on Saturday. How do I go about this? Cant see anything on the metro link website.

Thanks
