I'd prefer Bookham and Epsom to Cobham, with a final diversion via East Putney of course.Of course, and while they're at it, the WoE services should have been diverted by Romsey/Fareham/Haslemere/Cobham obviously......

They would certainly run to time better. The number of times I see online that the Berrylands to Hampton Court service is delayed in the evening. It won't always be due to pasengees but I suspect many of the minor delayed ones are.TL;DR: The railway would run much better if these irritating passengers didn't insist on boarding our lovely trains
That's why I've not done that bit of track. However I am intending to do so.You can do the track any day without needing a blockade. Just at an unsociable time...

Following a question in the southeastern to Waterloo discussion, I found these moves in RTT, they suggest testing has started into the international platforms, the path appears Mon-Fri this week:

W912 is the signal on the Windsor reversible that would allow access to the international platforms, that line is under T3 possession.
Stepping and gauging tests on the platforms?
One would assume it'll b a 455?
Dunno. I had a quick look back on RTT and it seems to have arrived off an earlier Hounslow Loop service into P17. I'm a stranger in those parts, so perhaps someone knows the usual stock.
If they are doing gauging and stepping checks perhaps they'll go through the whole range of rolling stock over the next few days/weeks.
That would make sense actually. You wouldn't need 5 paths just to check one type of stock surely? Hounslow loops are usually 458s, tomorrow might be something different. Diesel, 444, 450, 455 and 458 would tick all the stock assuming that's how they'll do it?
Well TBQH that's ultimately of their own making as trains are prepared and checked daily and things like doors generally don't jam themselves, it's because some buffoon holds/forces them and where air con is provided it will work provided the public don't interfere with the internal doors and use the little green buttons so the doors stay open because they're so lazy to put their fingers on the door open button.
Also MoP are told if you're not feeling well don't get on the train, so what do they do? Get on the train and then pull the passcom and cause significant delays to 1000's of others, which is just plain selfish.
Oh Yes the traction system which is like your cars engine can breakdown once in a while too, just like your cars engine can and when you consider the punishment it gets on a daily basis, it's not surprising.
So basically if you & they don't like the service that's on offer you & they should seek an alternative of which there are quite a few if you live in Surbiton upwards.
Lol. Indeed.You'll be camping, then?
In addition to the above, I got out at Wimbledon 4 minutes late. It took more than 2 minutes to exit the station and I hadn't put myself in the right place to alight and go up the stairs as fast as possible. There was a queue of people be held at a barrier at the bottom of the stairs.
Thus I missed the half hourly connection on the Sutton loop line. It's an official connection too, as they allow you 6 minutes to change. So now I'm going back to New Malden and getting a bus as I'm hoping that will be quicker than waiting for the next train. I should have got out at New Malden earlier but for some reason I thought changing at Wimbledon would be quicker. It would be if my train had been on time.
I'm now on a 5 minutes late train towards Hampton Court. So I think these give some idea of why infrastructure works are so important. Yes passengers don't help but I don't have the answers as to how to deal with them.
Noticed this morning that trains on the Chessington branch are now stopping at the end of the 10-car platform extensions (the trains are still 8 car 455s of corse). Previously they stopped further back. Presumably drivers learning the new stopping points.

Sat at Surbiton today, it was clearly obvious why these types of works are needed or passengers need to be encouraged not to travel.
...
Now to have more trains, to try and stop them being so busy, one needs infrastructure improvements. These improvements won't occur without disruptive engineering works.
Or the units could have been designed with sensors or pressure pads like British Rail stock always had, so they doors don't close as you're walking through them. And they could have designed the buttons so they can actually be pressed by someone who isn't The Incredible Hulk.
I understand the Evening Standard reported on Friday that an additional platform - platform 10 - will now be out of use for the period.

That one RTT path covers 5 in and out moves, and there are 5 platforms... Was a 10.458 doing the honours today when I passed through, sitting at W912 at about 1010 just about to enter P20 as far as RTT was concerned.
Attached photo shows state of approaches this morning. New hoardings going up on the ramped bridge. Some escalator components have been delivered.
Sorry I probably didn't make it clear, 5 paths, one for each platform, but 5 days of the same path to check various stock?
