I suppose you could say that Scotland does have a half hearted representation in the Cabinet, as Liam Fox is originally from East Kilbride. Despite the Conservatives best performance in Scotland for a long time, it seems that there is nobody from a Scottish constituency holding a Cabinet post yet.

Secretary of State for Scotland is David Mundell - doubt that will change. That is a cabinet post.

I doubt she'll appoint any of the novice MPs to cabinet posts at this time.

Sadly, That Useless Hunt remains Secretary of State for Abolition of the National Health Service.

Not sure why May persists with C U Next Tuesday as Health Secretary... either an attempt to force through reforms OR she's telling him "it's YOUR mess, YOU clean it up!".

I would imagine that somewhere, somebody may have made a ditty containing Cockney rhyming slang that is unprintable to describe Jeremy Hunt.

Pop over to the Royal Infirmary and ask a few of the docs. You'll find loads. <D

I think she's happy with the job he's doing. He's effectively mismanaging the NHS into the ground.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld

Apologies - I forgot about Mundell.

How could I have forgot that, as he was previously ploughing a lone furrow by having the pleasurable or dubious honour of being Scotland's sole Conservative MP.

I suspect that is why Mr. Johnson is the Foreign Secretary, personally.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder where the £350m a week for our NHS is?

When we leave, I'm all for sending invoices to Nigel Farage every week.
It should be Boris, Davis and Fox. Farage was always seen as a bit of a nutter, the Brexit-three gave legitimacy to the Leave argument that may well have swung some of the undecided.

Are you assuming that Britain has already placed a financial embargo on that money, even though we are still a member of the EC. However, if this is a fact, can you be so kind as to disclose your source.

Remember, before I am accused of any defence of that particular "Leave" battle bus slogan, both my wife and I are in our 70s and were staunch "Remain" supporters and nothing that has occurred has convinced me that we were wrong in that choice.

And you may as well add Kate Hoey while you're at it.

The Vote Leave battle bus said that we should vote to leave the European Union and fund our National Health Service instead. However, it now appears that promise has now been reneged on, and I think those responsible should absolutely be held to account for it.

I know the extra funding for the NHS wouldn't have been available until after Brexit was completed, but to be told the extra £350m a week for the NHS promise has now been dropped is a shambles.

Please explain.

I'll give an example - Corbyn promised free university tuition, so how is he going to pay for this? Considering that the tutors will want to be paid, the electric, water and gas in the university will need to be paid on top of general running costs which would run into the millions every year. To me this will mean that Corbyn would have to borrow money that this country doesn't have in order for him to deliver his electorial promise.

What I'm trying to drive at is that the young think that everything should be free, but who is going to pay for it? As there's only so much tax that government could rasie before there's an uprising.

Its the young Labour supporters who are in my view, the freeloading lefties.

Do we? No, we don't. And we are not freeloading lefties.

My ignore list is just getting bigger and bigger.

Was the "Leave" battle bus that carried that slogan an official vehicle sponsored by the Conservative Party or was it just on behalf of a consortium of various hues of the political rainbow. Remember that the RMT leadership were all in favour of a "Leave" decision, whilst many in the Conservative Party were "Remain" supporters.

Are you claiming that the £350 million per week was a Conservative Party manifesto promise?

In theory. by borrowing - the payments on which will be supported by future increases in GDP (and hence tax take) that a better educated workforce engenders.

How well has such GDP increases from a better educated workforce engendered since the Blair aspiration of a 50% University place take up was announced ?
Difficult to measure since the post-Blair years happen to include the largest economic crash since the Great Depression.

No, I'm not claiming anything of the sort.

However, those who were part of the Vote Leave campaign which promised the extra £350 million per week the National Health Service (after we left the EU), such as Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and Iain Duncan Smith, are prominent members of the Conservative Party. They should stand by that promise and ensure it is carried out after we leave the European Union, or they should apologise for reneging on that promise.

It was costed as coming from tax not borrowing. Given that right now the students are being forced to borrow this money, the country as a whole is actually building up more debt than it would do if we took a decent honest approach and abolished fees. This is actually pretty important because the way things are going at the moment a huge proportion of the loans are actually never going to get paid back, meaning that the government will actually end up taking the debt onto its own books in 20-30 years.

Fees at £9k a year are really nothing but a way of hiding away a big chunk of national debt, and if a bunch of potentially able kids from less rich backgrounds are scared away from a bright productive future that's just treated as collateral damage.

On the subject of tax, there may well be a limit on the amount you can tax without there being an uprising but we are absolutely nowhere it.

And so it begins.

Number 10 was "toxic" says former aide (BBC)

None of these revelations come as any surprise. There seems to be a particular attack here on her chiefs of staff, and TM is being pushed to fire them or face a leadership challenge. Her premiership is far from secure.

Apparently, Timothy Nick once shouted at Phillip Hammond, the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Fiona Hill made Ruth Davidson come down to London to tell her off for not sticking to the campaign message of "strong and stable" and then didn't turn up herself.

Ruth Davidson's Scottish Conservatives were the only part of the Tories who did the least bit well. That just shows how bad Nick and Hill's campaign was. The Conservative party told us that we shouldn't want shady bearded figures telling them what to do, and now it's finally got rid of its own.

Did you have to pay to go to university?

Please read other people's postings very carefully when you respond to them, because my posting specifically made reference to the times since Blair announced his aspiration for a 50% University place take-up. I am sure that you are more than capable of finding out what was the time period when it was said. At no time was any mention made by Blair of University tuition fees as part of his stated aspiration, so your posting comment above as an off-topic personal aside (which you seem very fond on making) is meaningless.

Many on this website are aware that I graduated as long ago as 1966 which, in case you are unsure of date calculations, was very, very, very many years prior to Blair becoming Prime Minister.

Do you also include that staunch "Leave" champion and bright shining light of the RMT, Mick Cash, in your condemnations?

I despair when such questions are both off-topic and a childish personal attack on my intelligence. I have just made a posting of rebuttal of one of these postings.

It would be helpful if you answered questions put to you rather than simply replying with another question. It's a longstanding problem you have; failing to reply to anything with a straight answer, and posting waffle and pleonasms.

To be honest it's difficult to know your actual views on anything, other than the fact you think the UDA are freedom fighters. That came across clearly enough.

Since you have already admitted that this was not a part of the then Conservative Party manifesto and noting the fact that this never appeared in any policy speech made by the then leader of that party, David Cameron, who was a "Remain" supporter, where does your logic come from that the Conservative Party should honour any matter outwith both their manifesto or a very specific promise made by the Conservative Party?

As far as I'm aware, neither the RMT or Mick Cash had anything to do with the "Let's Fund Our NHS" promise.

Because the people who promised the extra funding, and since reneged on it, are members of the Conservative Party.
