Class 380 power/toilet facilities

I was stuck on a 314 to Glasgow central on Wednesday for 2 3/4 hours when the overhead lines came down. There are no toilet facilities on them and it was a bit of a struggle.
I was wondering if I was on a 380 and the power went off, would the toilets onboard still operate or do they require electricity to fully operate? If you were in the toilet at the time would you be able to get back out?

Spot on. I almost took the toilet door off its hinges when I got into work. Departure was 6:37 and scheduled time of arrival is 6:57 but it was about 9:20 when we finally got in to central.
We had to climb down a ladder, alond the ballast and up into a 380 alongside which took us into the station. It was quite an adventure.

I was stuck on a 185 which died terminally, engines stopped, just emergency lights. As soon as it happened I went to the toilet as I knew the delay would be significant, and I knew I would need to go soon. It was the small toilet in the middle not the fancy power door one at the end. It was dark, used light on my phone, and needless to say my (liquid) deposit was left in the bowl, no flush. About 3 other people went after me then the guard had to lock it out.

I can see why retention toilets are necessary, but really they do need to have a higher 'availability' Perhaps a system where gravity takes the waste into a tank under the carriage.

AIUI, the flush wouldn't work but the lights would. The powered doors wouldn't work but you could open them manually.
