ITV News showed Theresa May visiting a bowls club in Tory heartland and when members were interviewed away from May they all said they had no idea what her plans were and no confidence in her remaining as PM.

And yet they will all vote Conservative regardless.

You really couldn't make it up.

Remember a lot of these projections are utilising modified uniform swings, which are somewhat dodgy in this situation.
In reality we have absolutely no idea what is going to happen.

Well despite Mrs May's poor campaign I will be voting Tory for only the second time not for any great love of the Tories, but I think Corbyn propped up by the SNP will be a disaster for this country, If I had any kids I would be telling them to emigrate in that situation, and if Corbyn gets in I think a lot of people will end up regretting it very quickly.

For a Country that voted for Brexit and many for immigration controls to then vote for a Corbyn Government is utterly bizarre in my view.

I think I could just about manage a fiver if I was interested.

Lib Dems to take Vauxhall has 4/1 odds according to SkyBet (as ever, at time of posting). Labour have 1/7 odds in the same seat, though.

I thought the Lib Dems might do it at the start but Labour have been pouring resources into the seat (despite the fact that most of the CLP hate Kate Hoey). Also the Lib Dems don't have any seats on Lambeth Council at the moment.

Point of order: No one voted for immigration controls. We voted to leave or remain within the EU. People may have thought they were voting for something more or projected their own desires or wishes onto "Brexit" but the vote was simply in or out.

As already pointed out the UK voted to Leave (by a relatively small margin.) The UK didn't vote to take control of it's own borders or to leave the single market.

An FPTP election is a completely different to a referendum with two options on the ballot paper. In many Scottish ares they voted to remain in the UK and then voted to be represented by MPs belonging to a party which is in favour of taking Scotland out of the UK.

It's worth remembering prior to the last election Ed Milliband said if he was elected PM there would be no EU referendum but now Corbyn is leading a Labour party who would take the UK out of the EU so they might regain votes that they lost to the Conservatives and UKIP last time.

Was at my Poling station at 06:58 today. Labour duely voted for.

I usually vote by post as if you cant see what your doing its easier to have a friend assist you. However today I was being assisted by and providing a bit of moral support to a first time voter who turned 18 yesturday and wanted some reasurance about it all as shes the only voter in her household.
On the topic of young people voting labour this one certainly did and Im glad I was able to help her vote for the first time

Indeed, national bargaining would return and the leapfrogging and playing one company off against another, which has resulted in very nice pay deals for certain grades, would end.

Give it ten years and railway pay scales would return to the comparative levels they "enjoyed" in the past.

Don't worry the RMT will ensure the staff are paid above top dollar, with the power of calling a national strike if "British Rail" don't meet their demands for at least an annual 10% pay rise.

And to help pay for it all, even more tax hikes for those pesky high earners. How dare someone be smart enough to work in a job paying £60K a year when some people are job shy.

Residents of the Falklands better learn to bow to Mauricio Macri when Mr C hands them over to Argentina, residents of Gibraltar better learn to bow to Felipe VI when Mr C hands it over to the Spanish as part of the EU dealings.

Well if Labour get in we will give it ten years and see if you are right ;)

As opposed to "my dad and my granddad always voted Labour so I will too"?

I'm sure the railway workers are expecting annual pay increases as part of nationalisation but I'm sure the government (even under Corbyn) would freeze pay for staff currently employed by the highest earning TOCs while lower paid staff catch up in the race to the top (which the RMT will call a race to the bottom.)

I'm sure Mrs May will keep Gibraltar under 100% British control even if there's an option for a very good trade deal if we agree to joint sovereignty.

My Dad was a Labour supporter and union member, forced in to early retirement as part of Thatcher cuts. Yet Labour have never convinced me that they have better policies than the Lib Dems, even if they have convinced me that they have better policies than the Tories.

You obviously have a mind of your own, and don't fit the profile I was drawing in response to HSTEd.

I think you'll find that was the Atherley Bowling Club here in the Southampton Test constituency, which has been held by Labour for the last twenty years.

OK. It was obvious she was picking places where people are more likely to the Conservative voters rather than just meet a load of random people. She went for afternoon tea at a church hall somewhere as well.

Do you think the Union movement really wants to pick a fight with a Labour government?
If it does the Union movement would be finished.

...... Reallllly?
How does Corbyn suddenly have dictatorial powers to do that?
How do you propose a Labour minority government would get away with either of those things? Even if Corbyn wanted to do them, which we have no real evidence for.

No increases unless you are on over 80k.

Unless your a married couple who currently share their personal allowance if one part is earning less than the personal allowance.

Or own a house when the revised Land Tax bill comes down.

Increase taxes for those lucky enough to be earning more than £80K won't generate the predicted income, like in France, some will move abroad or work within the system to find a way to legally pay less tax via their accountants finding out new loopholes in the complex tax rules.

(Similar to the reverse in Corporation Tax rates, if they think they will get the same levels of tax income increase they are living in a land where a company who produces a product for £1, suddenly doubling the price to £2 and still expects the same level of sales.)

So still think only those who earn over £80K a year will see tax rises?

Anyone on PAYE- and that includes a lot of people who earn £100k+- will not be able to avoid it. And many of the "loopholes" are nothing of the sort, as so many footballers discovered last week when their movie industry tax dodge was ruled illegal.

£80k a year is a lot of money, it's almost four times the national average salary. Nothing wrong with making those who benefit most from the UK's roads, health and education systems pay for them.

And if they move abroad? Revoke their passport. They can go live with their money. But I hear the nightlife isn't so hot in Belize.

The elite and highly educated are going to have to take the burden of taxation in the future. As tech takes over and the supply of base level manual jobs disappears the number of people employed is going to decrease. A citizen income is the only solution and who pays for that? The elite and highly educated who are still employed and still have income or assets.

Anyone staying up to watch the results come in?

I will be. I've even gone to the trouble of picking up some emergency Jack Daniel's for if the Tories come out with an worryingly large majority, and I've got my hat nearby for me to eat if Labour get a majority.

So back to the 1970s with a stupidly high income tax rate for those high earners?

What a fantastic way to reward hard work, telling them they are going to loss most of their income to pay for some youth to go to university to study a degree in media only for them to turn down basic employment as "being below them" (i.e. cleaning)

I have no issue with people working hard and earning a decent wage from that hard work. I do have issues with those highly educated elite punishing those in society who aren't intelligent enough to go to university and are more manual/vocational people.
