Rudd, as PM, - by the end of July 2017.

Ps. Eshter McVey might be available.....

I still think the Tories will probably win this but I'll have a wild card outside bet on Boris if they don't. Now that would quite amusing in a slightly terrifying way.

Not if I can help it. ;)

She didn't even bother to turn up at the local newspaper's debate for parliamentary candidates but did manage to turn up for a local school's debate where the people who could question her can't even vote!

I think they will win (they can hardly lose) but May will be gone - not of her own accord though. I suggest Rudd as she's in may's mould (doesn't answer anything) and doesn't have the post-Brexit baggage of bottlers that Gove, Boris and that whatever-she's-called has.

Davies has a chance but that would mean him moving away from his current Brexit-in-chief position I suppose.

Actually Davis would be a good shout, but would the county put up with yet another prime minister that they didn't actually vote for?

As a party member I really wanted Boris to win the 2015 leadership contest and would happily vote for him again. :)

BREAKING: BoJo announces Wick to Penzance cable car designed to connect over 30,000 people together, a vital required link for those in Scotland and Cornwall.

Jokes aside, Gove by March 2019.

May will hold onto her premiership should she gain a majority, of course, so a bit premature to be pondering her replacement.

However, if things do go badly wrong for her, I think That Useless Hunt may very well be in the running. He's now sufficiently distanced himself from demoralising every healthcare worker in the UK, and has just the right combination of arrogance and incompetence to pull something like this off.

I presume that by "should she gain a majority" you are thinking her current majority increases. I would think that if it doesn't increase substantially, the knives will find her back pretty quickly. The whole idea of calling the election was get a bigger mandate so that she could control them. It's naff-all to do with 'stronger and stable' UK.

But they ain't gonna axe her with a majority, even if it isn't substantially increased. Even if there are murmurings from within, she'll definitely stay as leader and they'll project the image of strength and stability that they want to keep projecting. At least, for now. Another new leader would put them at risk and probably would spark calls for yet another election (just what we all want...).

Her position is most certainly in jeopardy with anything less than a majority government, though.

There's no way she will be axed as long as she is able to form some kind of government.

She will still have secured Conservative government until 2022 instead of 2020. She would only be replaced if it starts to look like she would be a liability for that 2022 election.

As for who eventually replaces her, suspect it will be a name which is currently not in common living-room speak.

I would like to see Ken Clarke but that is a pipe dream he missed the boat.:(

At least he will be "Father of the House" (assuming he is elected)

In my view he would have made a better Prime Minister than Major, Cameron or May

The country doesn't vote for the PM, it votes for people to represent constituencies. The parties choose their leader.

Indeed. In theory it would be possible for the Conservatives to win the election while May loses her seat, or for Labour wins while Corbyn loses his seat. The latter may sound like an attractive idea for some voters!

You mean she's NOT a liability for this one <D

If Corbyn lost his seat in the event of Labour winning we would be faced with the prospect of McDonell or Abbott as PM which would be worse still.

In that hypothetical scenario it would be probable the deputy leader (Tom Watson) would become interim leader until a new leader is elected. I think it would be unlikely McDonnell or Abbott would be the long term leader simply because to become a candidate they need a certain number of MPs to nominate them. McDonnell tried to stand as a leader candidate in 2008 but failed to get enough nominations, while Abbott only became a leader candidate in 2010 due to getting a number of sympathy nominations, something that's unlikely to happen again following Corbyn's election.

I was under the impression that Inter City Cable Cars was a devolved matter - so I'm afraid it will have to be a Penzance to Carlisle Cable Car.

No Boris wants to extend the existing cable car in Gibraltar to Britain to reinforce the argument that Gibraltar is part of Britain. The French and Spanish have raised concerns about the wires over the top of the Pyreenees but Boris dismissed their concerns and said it's nothing more than EU red tape. ;)

That didn't stop the Tories wanting Labour to go to the polls after Brown took over (which with hindsight would probably have been better for Labour than what actually happened).

Theresa May will be out quicker than Cameron after the referendum if she is unable to build the Tory majority to less than 30. Don't underestimate the loathing for May amongst many Conservative MPs, both Remainers and Leavers, not to mention her implacable foe George Osborne. David Davis would imo become temporary leader.

I think if May's majority is less than before the election there is no way she can stay. Next leader? Probably Rudd, Hunt or Fallon neither of which I have any time for. Hopefully a younger more centrist MP will come along and challenge for the leadership.

I'd gladly take that. By a country mile my favourite leading Conservative (not that there's much competition!) and very, very strong on civil liberties and similar. I actually believe he and Corbyn agree on many matters of that nature, and get on well together.

Pigs will fly before May loses her seat! She had 65% of the vote in her constitiuency last year.
