Postbus Switzerland said:
Press release dated 19 May 2017

By the end of next year, no fewer than 19 new double-decker Postbuses will come into service in Eastern Switzerland. They are produced in the United Kingdom for PostBus – a first of its kind. PostBus is presenting the first of these vehicles to the media in Engelburg today, and to the local population on 20 May.

Eastern Switzerland has become the PostBus hub for double-decker buses with the addition of 19 new vehicles. Double-decker Postbuses have been part of the fleet in Eastern Switzerland since 1995. The third generation is now being produced, as the double-decker buses used up until now are becoming outdated. The first two of the new vehicles will come into service soon. They will mainly be used on the Engelburg–St. Gallen–Heiden routes and then subsequently in the Obertoggenburg and the regions of Rorschach and Goldach. Double-decker buses are well suited for winding roads that are frequently used. Passengers are more comfortable on these routes in double-decker buses than articulated Postbuses as there are many more seats: they offer 80 seats and 48 standing spaces, whereas articulated Postbuses have more standing spaces than seats.

Obviously congrats to Alexander Dennis. Switzerland tends to buy Citaro and MAN with a few Scanias. It looks like this is the same configuration as the Berlin deckers. With MAN's decision to relocate bus manufacture to Turkey could that also be an opportunity for AD?

I think I recall that Alexander Dennis are already involved with Berlin's latest round of trials into future double deckers.

How does the ride and comfort compare to a UK E400? I can see no opening windows so it presumably is air-conditioned which is already a step up from what British bus passengers have to put up with.

Presumably very similar to the many already in service in Hong Kong.

Hadn't realised they came in a three door version. We're very averse in the UK to having even two doors on routes outside of cities!

Correct me if I am wrong but have ADL products so popular in Hong Kong that a plant has opened up which builds the bodies of the buses?
With ADL just shipping over the parts?

Yep but they are not built in Hong Kong but rather over the border by a contractor in China. Zhuhai to be exact... Most chassis are from Malaysia but some still from UK. .
