A Virgin TM told me that they were going to run in via WBQ. is this possible?

Not to Parkway. They could get as far as Edge Hill but apart from the capacity problems transport into the city centre would need fleets of buses. I thought they planned to use Parkway so that Merseyrail could ferry them more easily.

Presumably the one at Speke, the other two sides leading to Garston freight terminal.
The extension will be southwards from Parkway station on the Down Slow, and not accessible from the CLC route.

Very difficult... Bootle Oriel Road (or beyond towards Southport if needed for reversing manouvres) via the Canada Docks Branch might be do-able in theory, but that's assuming the signalling is in place to enable such moves and that other difficulties could be overcome. More likely though, it would be logistically difficult (probably too much so).

What would be the point of that? Passengers would have to change twice, and then overwhelm the Merseyrail trains. It would take much longer than a replacement bus from Huyton directly to the city centre.

An official RRB will do better than that, and will hopefully meet the trains.
You aren't going to improve on that on a rail diversion involving reversals and low-speed freight lines, and capacity is very low on the Bootle branch.

There is the potential there for the future - wire up the Tuebrook line add a couple of stations... the Blackpool - Lime Streets could continue to Lime Street then South Parkway and Wigan stoppers could go to South parkway via Central.
A station at Tuebrook and another near Goodison may make it viable.

It is a shame for the sake of saving a few pfennigs that so many junctions and crossovers were taken out.

Except when there are roadworks on Edge Lane Drive and it takes at least 15-20 minutes to crawl from one end to the other (as happened to me after the "cutting wall collapse" incident recently.

The 10B does not use Edge Lane Drive - it goes through Old Swan.

To be honest, no matter which roads you use to get in and out of the city centre, its a nightmare especially at peak hours, some are worst than others! The best thing for those who have the choice (suggest go on holiday), not bother travelling in and out of the city during that time.

Canada Dock Branch? Even if it was relaid (which would take years even if the process was fast tracked) only would get you to ..........Canada Dock.

Relaid? As far as inside the tunnel, yes. After that no chance everything completely filled in with I understand industrial units have been / being built on it all at "Regent Road" level. Opportunity was there a few years ago for a possible rail connection but no one took up the options hence filled in!

Passing through Lime Street Station yesterday morning the new Virgin enquiry office and first class lounge are now open.
The area between Platforms 7 and 8 has now been closed and fenced off in readiness for the demolition of the buildings in the area.

Well the BK has closed down (as I sadly discovered the other day)! So that would certainly make sense.

Do not know but they also moved all the seating from in front of P7/8 to he area in front of P9 leaving Bessie Braddock and Ken Dodd in splendid isolation.

I've seen this before but without the New TPE train. Presumably this would normally use the other side of the station for the Chat Moss. Still seems strange to remove platform 1 for occasional Pendolinos.

The BBC are now reporting a 23-day closure, instead of the 9 originally reported.
Has the plan changed that significantly, or is it just the way it is being reported? (I think that the original 9 days also had additional weekend closures)

Liverpool Lime Street is to close for three weeks for a major refurbishment.

Network Rail said the railway station would be shut between 30 September and 22 October so passenger capacity can be increased.
