photting freight workings in the uk

hi there,is there any way i can find out freight workings and timings i.e(where freight trains have been and where they are going to and what they are hauling,traction used,headcodes allocated) in advance so i can plan what i want to photograph?a freight and special timetable so to speak?how do other folk find this out to match there photos with the appropriate info?is it all inside knowledge i suppose is what i am asking or is it available to anyone?cheers all

All I do is go to a station and see what trains come through. If any freight train comes through, it is usually daily, or sometimes once a week at least. It's not an accurate assumption, but it allowed me to see three freight trains at Stevenage at the exact same time.

For Frieght Workings come to Reading. The best place to see them would be Reading West. You have the stone trains from somerset, container trains from the south coast and quite a few oil workings. Traction is usually class
66s but I have seen twice a class 60 on oil workings at roughly about midday on saturdays.
